What's up with Classic VW?
humpty - October 15th, 2010 at 03:14 PM

I ordered some stuff off these guys over two weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived.... I bought some gear from VW Parts Unlimited 5 days ago and it's here, from CIP1 nine days ago and it's here.... Why can't Classic VW do what they are paid to do?

And to top it off, they don't answer the phone!!!

Can anyone go put a bomb under the guy for me....

bajachris88 - October 15th, 2010 at 04:56 PM

Australia post isn't reliable either :td:

not that i'm taking sides, but that happens too and is out of their control.
You dropped them an email yet?

Birdman - October 15th, 2010 at 05:06 PM

Classic are cheap and slow and dont answer the phone.
I guess the secoond two go with the first one.
You will get it , cheap, eventually.

humpty - October 15th, 2010 at 05:12 PM

Yep.... Emailed them.... No reply.... And they aren't that cheap.... The stuff I bought off them I could have bought from the US.... The shipping cost was about the same and the unit cost was better in the US.... Just thought I'd give a local guy a hand.... Think I'll stick with Rodney for the local stuff....

This sux chunx....

RISKY4LIFE - October 15th, 2010 at 06:29 PM

LMAO there are a few of these threads and people still talk them up

jjwebb123 - October 15th, 2010 at 07:32 PM

i waited two months and nothing.but i understand it must be hard too ,when extremely busy like they are.
once was enough for me,which is a shame becuase they do have some good stuff.
good luck.

Desert Moose - October 15th, 2010 at 08:34 PM

I just ordered 4 disc rotors and some rocker covers and had them in 3 days...
Then ordered more stuff and it took the same time and this was over the last two weeks

I'm in WA as well?

humpty - October 15th, 2010 at 09:16 PM

I have a theory Chris.... If you run a business, you get the service.... If your just a schmuck punter like me, you get screwed... Do you still have your chassis shop?..... I know the boys at the Munster Garage get stuff from George every week... And fast too.... That's why I thought I'd give them a shot.... I figured they got the problems sorted..... I seem to be wrong..... If these parts arrive, I'll be happy.... Annoyed , but happy.... But I will never buy from them again.... All the parts I ordered from them I could have bought from VW Parts Unlimited.... For about the same price when you include the shipping.... But they would have been here almost within the week....

Done whinging....

VolksVair - October 15th, 2010 at 09:24 PM

they don't answer emails Chris...
or their phone....

I get parcels from all over the world nearly every day and have never lost one and all aussie ones are here within 3-4 days...
Express post does NOT work in the country
same as ordinary parcel post... 2-4 days

sometimes overnight from Sydney...

Mick Motors answer the phone and answer emails....
tell them You want something fast..
and You get it fast....

Classic... Only way is to go to the shop....

I never go to any shop as I'm in the country....

No Closed it down 3 years ago and went for the Mining money.

I didn't see the point paying all that rent, wages and hard work to sell parts that everyone can buy on ebay....lol

No really, I had trouble getting good staff because of the mining boom. So I couldn't bet it so I went with it.

barls - October 17th, 2010 at 05:53 PM

guys be aware that its a one man show there and he is very busy, the phone never stops ringing if you go for a visit. also be very careful about bagging out a sponsor of the forum as the may pull their sponsorship if they feel like they are happy. if you want im more than happy to head down and see him if you dont get any response from him by mid week. try ringing in the morning.

humpty - October 17th, 2010 at 07:13 PM

I'm in Perth..... It's not gonna happen anytime soon....

Craig Torrens - October 17th, 2010 at 07:21 PM

Let me know what you want Simon....I buy stuff from there weekly so i can get it and send it to you !!

Barnabie - October 17th, 2010 at 07:26 PM

Great prices and service, but yep he is flat out. Was in there the other day for some goodies, he knocked $100 off the price straight up - no haggling or anything, just dropped the price, which made the stuff cheaper than anywhere else I could get it by a fair whack :tu:

Tough to get to the shop from Perth though!! I'll be heading back up there in a couple of weeks, PM me if you want me to put an order in for you, or pass on your contact details and wish list.

Kris ;)

humpty - October 17th, 2010 at 07:32 PM

Cheers for the offers of help guys... Really appreciate it... Will give George this week to come through.... If it's a no go, I'll be in touch Craig....

vwkg - October 17th, 2010 at 09:03 PM

I placed an order with George probably 3 weeks ago now and I'm still waiting. I paid immediately over the phone and he said he would send it off that afternoon.

I try to do the right thing and support the local guys, but why bother when I can get the same stuff cheaper from the US, would probably arrive sooner as well.

All I wanted was some new door rubbers and replacement mirrors. Seems like thats too hard. I have tried to get onto him but usual story, can't get through on the phone, have emailed before about parts and never gotten a reply so I won't even bother with that.
I'll be giving him another call tomorrow.

NUG637 - October 19th, 2010 at 04:25 PM

yep ive had too many bad experience with classic, i dont even bother, went through the hole "ill send it this arvo" as i paid for it over then phone.... waited 3 weeks befor i could get ahold of him.... waited a further 2 weeks then got sent the complete wrong stuff.... so that was it.... i deal with cip1.com from the states, have never had to wait any longer then a week and works out cheaper even when its not dollar for dollar..... my 2c

vwkg - October 20th, 2010 at 02:19 AM

Last time I ordered from him it was an acceptable wait time. I only order locally because I was hoping to get the door rubbers to replace the worn ones before the wet season starts up and I start getting water pouring in.

Tried calling again and still nothing.
Am NOT going to even bother anymore, I only ordered from there assuming it would be faster to go locally than through the states, but cip1 would have been faster.

humpty - October 20th, 2010 at 10:57 AM

Part of the order arrived yesterday... Still waiting on one of the bus shifters... Will give him till the end of the week.

Pollywaffle - October 20th, 2010 at 12:06 PM

Fingers crossed you get this sorted out =/ Whenever I've got something posted to me, I've done it through Vintage Vee Dub. I've always received it the next day.

Wolfsburg Automotive in Victoria have all rubbers made to their specifications...
Great Quality...

with door rubbers... Brasillian ones will do doors as they are easily replaced... and are MUCH Cheaper...

than the good ones...
CIP1 have a lot of rubbers made in the USA too...

I would think everyone would have door rubbers..??

Mick motors is closer too... Brisbane...

cheers

vwkg - October 21st, 2010 at 10:21 AM

Lee, nice to see there are alternatives, but I would assume anywhere should be sending off parts on time. If the others can do it why can't Classic?

In future I will use one of the others, used Classic this time for the reasons I stated above. Next time I'll try Vintage or Wolfsburg.

lownsneaky - October 21st, 2010 at 02:08 PM

I find he has great prices but whats ten bucks if you have to wait to long for your product

RISKY4LIFE - October 21st, 2010 at 05:24 PM

this thread has had a clean up
has anyone evea seen one of these threads about mick's or Vintage

barls - October 21st, 2010 at 06:01 PM

ill point out again that classic is a sponsor of the forum. what do you expect that the mods would let you bag them out.
also both micks and vintage are more than one person operating it.
anymore bagging of classic out right and ill lock and/or remove the thread.

MR930 - October 22nd, 2010 at 06:11 AM

Seems its time he got a worker or an answering machine. I've been trying to ring him when I find time every few days since Valla to buy some wheels and sliding windows for my Kombi and hes always engaged. Sent aquite a few emails with no replies either. Maybe someone that visits him could sugggest an answering machine or a phone call request request form on his website or something.
