Hi Guys, had my engineer around today to talk seatbelts mounts and what not and the topic of tyre and wheels sizes came up, so he basically said I can run up to 1.3 x the standard wheel width, 165x1.3=215 by whatever height I want, BUT the wheel track must not be over one inch wider than standard. Which would be OK as I quite like the tall skinny tyre look,
So looking around at the wheel options I can't really seem to find anything that specifies keeping the same Offset, as many keep the same Backspacing but this will change my track too much..
Should I just go to my local wheel place armed with a degree and a tape measure and just get some made up?? Cheers for any advice.

WOW! What a minefield!

Here is what I know, it might help hopefully.

I have 4 sets of wheels/tyres with different offsets and widths, and this is how they sit on a '73 Super (the front of these things have very little room, the beam Bugs have an extra 1/2" inwards).

14 x 6" mags, ET13 (3.5" in/2.5" out). With 195/50R15 tyres they stick outside the guard lip front and rear by about 30mm.
15 x 4.5" stockers, ET35. With 165/80R15 stock tyres they sit inside the guard lip by about 15mm to 25mm.
15 x 5.5" steelies, ET36. Front has 165/80R15, and is dead-flush with the guard lip, rear has 185/80R15 and is the same, dead-flush.
15 x 6" steelies, ET45. Front with 185/60R15 sits a couple of mm outside the front lip (and clears the modded strut by 2mm just!), and the rear with 206/60R15 sits the same.

Thanks for that mate, space under the guard isn't a issue as the manxter has really wide guards anyway. Thinking I will just get some made up so they meet the engineers requirements. I can't see the wheels when I'm in the drivers seat anyway! Cheers.
