Will post some more soon....
Some more....
More here: http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/album324
I'll add my pics tomorrow if I get a chance.
From memory Quick 8 included:
Rod Richardson
Peter Page
Adam Debiasi
Mike Kristen
Wally Penboss
Morgan Smith
LMS engineering beetle (sorry can't recall the drivers name) - ? Waldron
Dave Butler
It was a pity to see Rod Penrose blow a hole through the top of the case, also the gearbox of Wayne Penrose's oval gave up after some promising
passes - although Wayne won Air-cooled class by racing his dual cab tow vehicle to beat CT Hansen in his beautiful track prepared oval in the final
(after CT drove all the way up from sydney - great effort!) - obviously wayne's track experience helped him with some super consistent passes. Like
myself who made it to the last 4 of aircooled class (Wayne took the win in our race) - my best 10.56 - super slow but super fun!
The VVDS beetle possibly had bent exhaust valves (someone can confirm/dispel this) - head was off in attempt to fix but no luck unfortunately. Dave
Butler blew a CV but with the help of Aaron (awesome 13B triple rotor powered kombi) and others, he was able to get it back on the track for sunday
racing and top 8 finish. I know Aaron also had some problems in the kombi but seemed to get it back out on the track. Fabian's "Aussie Inch
Pincher" looked fantastic and will be great with some more track time. The Volksmod (from Burleigh Heads) manx was pulling some burnouts to rival the
best of them! Wow there were so many highlights I can't even start to condense them down (maybe after a bit more sleep I'll try and write up some
more detailed info) - still buzzing from all the fun!
Although I was one of the slowest cars with my stock type IV 2L (that damn stock cam and damn stock heads were a bit frustrating), I absolutely loved
the event and had a ball on my first attempt at drag racing. All the racers were super friendly and helpful and spent the time to give some advice to
newbies like me - big congrats to Craig for a successful first event. I would say it will be bigger and better next year!
Best weekend ever!
Great weather,
great track,
lots of runs,
nice people(VW people and Warwick people!),
The weekend was a triumph for all the people involved.
It was a pity some of the "big guns" didn't make it to racing on Sunday (especially for those that could only get there on the Sunday ). Otherwise it was a great day out and awesome to hear vw dubs go flat out.
Its given me a bit of inspiration to get mine finished and on the road. With a 1600 it should give the datto square a run for its money!!!
Although my girlfriend now wants a wheelstanding kombi...
Well done Craig on a great weekend. I've already got my calendar marked for next year.
The weather was interesting, hot Saturday, cold and windy Saturday night and bloody hot Sunday but atleast no sign of rain.
It was great to see the event so well supported by spectators and racers. Some racers came a longway.
Anyway here's some pics. (Message to my self.....don't give camera to kids to take pics next year...:o)

Andrew(Stanley) was my very helpful crew chief for the weekend. Thanks Dude!
We nearly wore out the car with all the runs, and tried to do some smokey skids.
Here are the runs:
SATURDAY
8.29@90.36mph(bogged start)
7.53@92.98
7.47@92.97
8.74@88.06(bogged start and missed 2nd gear)
7.88@90.18(slight bog or spin?)
Last run of the day : BANG! Broke a CV. (Thanks Aaron and Josh for your help!)
SUNDAY
8.26@87.72(bogged the start with CV fear)
7.57@91.42
7.96@90.18(slight bog)
7.431@93.16(breakout on 7.5 dial in)
7.39@93.55(breakout on a buy run & BEST RUN)
7.54@92.59(with a .490 reaction on a 7.50 dial in...got beat by the CHAMP Rod Richardson!)
Warwick is 550m(1640ft) above sea level.
Still trying to find comparisons for WSID and Willowbank.
I think WSID is 70m, and Willowbank is 350m...still lookin'.
