Drag slicks - where to get.
Stanley - October 8th, 2012 at 06:44 PM

I think my Firestone slicks have seen better days. I've noticed small cracks in the sidewalls. Where's the best place to get some 6 × 26 × 15 slicks.

Cheers

Performance wholesale perhaps but you need a trade account. I know one of the boys there and have access to stuff as does troy.

Actually, have a talk with Davo Richardson, he was thinking of upsizing his,
so you may be able to get a good deal on his.

Are these an odd size?

humpty - October 8th, 2012 at 08:11 PM

Nobody here in Oz could supply that size, so I got mine from Pierside Parts....

whathaveidone - October 8th, 2012 at 08:12 PM

Try Antique tires in Melbourne at 134 McEwen Road Heidelberg PH 1300 554 413 talk to Ben McKinnon (owner operator). He is VW Club member in Melbourne and a passionate VW owner. I have bought two sets of the 6 x 15 x 26 from him. They around $500 a pair. He always has fresh slicks on hand and they are not old stock just lying around.
Cheers
Andrew

Mine came in only marginally cheaper than that from Pierside.... I'm sure the three month wait I had to endure, was down to the US drag season having only just begun..... But it's good to know that the Antique dude over there can help.... The local Antique Tires guy (a cousin of the Melburg dude I hear) was not very helpful with availablity... And my local Rocket supplier didn't dig any deaper than the website.....

You east coasters have it easy....

If you liked your Firestone slicks they are still available from Phoenix , that is what brand I am running on my car. After reading your post I called Mike @ Coker tire company ( Owners of Phoenis tires) and told him about your post. The price from him is 174.00 USD ea plus shipping and import taxes . There are dealers over in Aussie but the reason it takes 3 months to recieve the tires is that they normally ship them out a container by boat. Mike said if anyone needs them in a hurry he would be glad to ship by FEDEX , doing a group buy may save you some cash. His email address is MIKEC@COKER.com and tell him you spoke with Mike McCarthy. Here is a link to the corporate website , http://www.phoenixracingtires.com/  . I hope this helps, Mike

Always willing to help my Aussie brothers, Mike

Lots of the drag bike crowd use the Phoenix 26 x 6 too.
Most go direct if they're in a hurry, and Summit are another option.

Thanks to all

Have located a set thanks to Andrew Ermel's reply. Getting a set through Mikes post was second option.

Thanks again
