Syncro find
mackaymanx - October 7th, 2010 at 06:26 PM

Picked this up today :) :tu: Only problem is I'm not keeping it :sniffle::td:
Gearbox was pulled because there was some noise and a couple pieces of brass when the oil was drained, no catastrophic failure so no major damage.
Ex Telecom van, pity it doesn't have the diff locks. Off to Townsville tomorrow as spares for the new syncro owner up there.

Hope you don't get kicked out of the house.....

Shame it becomes a parts bus. But makes my syncro even more rare.

Telstra didnt tend to look after them very well and hence many ex-telstra syncros have gone to their grave - they were a base model too so not much flashy stuff on them to save.

Plenty to save on this one, going 2.1L WBX, front diff/viscous coupling and rebuildable gearbox. Mick has already salvaged the power steering pump to replace the dead one in his syncro.

I wouldnt mind a set of handles like those on my Syncro tail gate. What were they for???
I dont remember Telecom techs hanging from the back, rushing to fix a bad line!

MickH - November 21st, 2010 at 05:02 PM

They were there so they had something to grab onto when climbing up the back to get stuff off the roofracks.....why do you want them????

Ben386 - November 25th, 2010 at 02:23 PM

I was being sarcastic.I wouldnt want those things drilled and bolted to my Syncro.

MickH - November 26th, 2010 at 11:34 AM

You could always glue them on.....the cosmetic factor wouyld suck though...
