Baby seat Anchor Point in a Bug
Anyone ever put an anchor point in for a baby seat?
I guess it would be on the bottom of the luggage tray, towards the firewall, just drill a hole in the middle.
Then I'll also need to put in a centre lap seatbelt to go from the existing mount points behind the rear seat. Can do that when I put the other
belts in the back.
I'm attempting to put my 3 kids (well 2 & a baby) in the back of the 64 when I get it on the road soon, I've only just realised I'll need to put
the baby seat in the car. Details, details!!!!!

Well i am about to drill a hole into the rear fire wall for the baby capsule but as far as fitting 2 kids and a baby seat you have very little chance.
The baby seat will take up pretty well half the back seat leaving no room for the other two. Also if you are thinking about putting the baby seat in
the lying down position then the passenger seat will be all the way forward as it does not fit with the passenger seat moved back. ( the baby seat
cannot touch any of the front seats by law)It has to be in the up right position to fit.

I've legally but an ancor point in my bug. Through the double thickness firewall, and into the top of the engine compartment - has advice from the
local fitting shop as to where, and how. So long as you go through these points, and have a large enough washer, you will be legal. I've had 3 kids
in the back of my bug, with the child seat in the middle. It was squeezy, but enough space for the kids.

Can you take a piccy of where it is, I'm just trying to figure how high up you're saying.
I know it will be squeezy but they're skinny kids :thumb:thumb. (Well one is!!!) We also bought a narrow baby seat, so that should help (Safe n
Sound Compaq Deluxe). Its only the base of the seat thats narrower, so it should leave more butt room for the others. Comparing it to our older car
seat from the other two, you can see a difference. My wifes car is an 89 Civic and they fit ok in there, its not a big car. Anyway this will only be
a very occasional driver, weekends, good weather, not too hot etc.
Nah it definitely wont fit backwards Wag67, I found that out 10yrs ago with the first baby, which is why we had to sell our Superbug. By the time I
get the 64 on the road the little bloke will be big enough to face forwards, that's one advantage to me taking forever to get the car done.
Thanks for the replies, any pics of the position would be muchly appreciated.
Cheers
Greg
