Lowering a 67 BUG
Hi all,
I've just had the front of my beetle lowered -
CB 2" narrow beam
CB 2.5 drop spindals
The trouble is the tryes are fouling the arch even when the beam is set in its highest setting.
I'm running the fronts on BRM repro's 5.5J with 145/65 R15
My question is can I safely put 135s on the wheels?
If so where can get 135's?
If a 5.5 is too wide does anyone have 3 (2 front 1 spare) 4.5 BRM's they want to sell? or even 5 J if they safely fit 135 profile tryes
I've tried volkspower and George.
Any ideas people?
I'm in Victoria
Cheers Lee

Hmmm...135's on a 5.5 " rim....I've just put 135's on my 5" raders and they're a little too narrow with the rim bead protruding.
Good luck Lee

I am pretty sure a 145/R15 mich or nankang is approx 78 profile... so 145/78/15, therefore a little taller than the 145/65/15
With your wheels, and drop spindles your offset is wider than stock even with the narrowed beam.
I would be taking another inch or two out of the beam, and everything will fit nice with decent tyres under there, not rubber bands which in my
opinion dont look real good as you still have a gap between the tyres and the fenders.
A michelin or nankang 145/15 in the middle of the fender is a good look...
good luck with it!

Thanks Ash.:thumb
You're car looks great on 145's- I can't wait to post mine on here but I've vowed not to until the stance is right!!!
At least I've found out who has 4.5J brm's in stock - clip1, and street style and power in UK, unless anyone on here has a pair they want to sell?
