Removing Kombi front door quarter windows

Any instructions, advice, suggestions about removing Kombi front door quarter windows?
The instructions I've got (Floyd Clymer) just say -
"...unscrew the Phillips head screw in the upper window frame and hexagon head screw near the remote control lock on the inner panel, then remove the front window guide channel with vent wing frame. "
Okay until "then remove the front window guide channel with vent wing frame."
The felt guide and chrome trim prevent the front window guide channel being pushed back so it can be lifted out, at least I think so, unless I've done something wrong.
Any hints about how to do this without damaging other parts in the process?
Has there been a similar question on the forum before or any on-line resource or books that cover this well?
Thanks.

Now your testing my memory.
Firstly, do have opening 1/4 windows or just glass in the front doors??
If you have the opening 1/4 windows the instructions you posted sound about right.
Otherwise it doesn't apply.

Now from memory, I had the sliding glass (winding window) pushed hard down I think I even undid it to get it lower. Next I poped out the inner and outer scrapers. With the screw and bolt undone tilt the top edge back so the 1/4 window is leaning back. That should give you enough room to clear the top edge, force it out a little and slide it up to remove.
It was not an easy job, and hard to do without damaging new paint work when re-installing :(
Hope that helps. :thumb

That's about it - I loosened the rear window channel and unbolt the window from the winding mechanism, then drop the glass right down and back. Remove the inner and outer scrapers. Pull down the upper bailey channel and undo the screw (s?) that locate the top of the front bailey channel, and the hex bolts down in the door. You should then be able to slide the top of the 1/4 window backwards enough to clear the door frame, then lift it out. I believe the opening and non-opening 1/4 windows are the same. :thumb

At the moment I've got fixed quarter windows. I want to remove them to fit opening quarter windows, Kombi airconditioning.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are scrapers (I think I can guess - rubber scrapers?) and BAILEY channels (I've no idea!)

You guessed the scrapers correctly. You'll find that they have little wire loops that clip into holes in the door panel. You'll need to get a flat screwdriver or similar in behind them and pop them off like you would a door trim.

Bailey channels are the felt 'U' shaped pieces that the winding window slides in. They are designed to clip into the channel in the door frame, but will just pop out with a bit of levering with a screwdriver. :)

Thanks all again, I'll try again when the tip of my finger has healed over!
Any good step by step photos or instructions known?
