Yeh, the Suby tuner man will program the ECU, remove things, tweaks things etc.
I also bought a 'ECUdatascan' scanner, which will monitor live performance but will also allow on the go tweaking.

Not if i want the g/box to survive
The tuner man (wrx man) saw the engine and said it had all the good bits on it, injectors etc - reackens it would be good for 200-220kw
What do you think a 300HP 950kg(im guessing - was 799kg without suby) beetle would do...
Going to be interesting!
| ok lookin good....yeh no way that gearbox will survive any sort of thrashin if that motor is goin produce those hps.

....yep....
we'll see - it may not produce that kind of power - plus, if we dyno it to prove that kind of power, the gearbox may go!

My brother's Type 3 just munched a gearbox on the dyno. Under power in 3rd gear with just under 14psi boost at 170odd hp atw at just on 4000rpm it
took all the teeth clean off 3rd gear. The thing makes 250hp plus but I guess the torque simply took care of the teeth rather easily.

yeah thats right, but it depend on the gears in the box, unlucky for me my third gear was the fine tooth gear which is a weak point away, hence it
macine all the teeth of( photos on my members thread).if you have the larger tooth gear and are gentle with the clutch you should get away with it, i
will find out fairly soon as im about to get my box back together and back to the dyno so time will tell.

Im not to sure really. How can you tell? Pro's and con's of either?

From what little I could see in that photo the comp housing and actuator looks like an MHI turbo rather than IHI VF30. Got a close up shot?

according to dangerous, he ran into the 10s with a similar box as mine and that was with his blown engine which would have heaps more torque then ive
got so should be ok under boost now with the 1600 kombi 3rd gear, much larger teeth than what i had..

Getting picky here, but are you going to fix up all that black paint that's been put over your nice paintjob underneath?

in which bits? under the guards?
You can't see it, plus underneath of the car is all black. On the future to do list is re-do paint. Though gearbox is first - what a crap job when it
blows! The more we squeeze in the back, the more crap that needs to be removed to take the g-box out.

Yep the stuff under the guards and around the engine bay. Considering it was body colour when you put the car in, I thought it would have been
matched. May as well do it right first time. Although, if you're happy with it, then I'm happy.
Personally, I'm just amazed they turned around this job so quickly. It wasn't that long ago you had the 1916 up for sale. Kudos.

Yeh they did give me the option of matching the colour once the POR15 was on, but the amount of stuffing around, additional cost etc. didn't seem
worth it. YOu wont see inside the wheel well and you wont see much of the engine bay firewall - its tight!!! Plus the car colour is dark, so the black
looks fine to me.
I see your point though, green would be nice, but came down to time and dollors - but Westi did offer.
Turnaround is great, would of been quicker if it wasn't for some dodgy parts i bought.

Whatever we can fit in!!! It will be near the g/box with scoop.
Wont make nats
Turns out the clutch problem i bought up in the past hit back - there is a problem with the way the pan was converted from auto - so new tube needed
and a bit of a play to make sure its all good. Pain in the back, but we were pushing it anyways, let alone upholstery.
At least now i can enjoy the day tomorrow.

Well, not too much has happened - mainly waiting.
The clutch cable tube was not worth fixing, so hydraulic it is. The cylinder on the gear-box leaver is fitted, the lines are yet to be run.
Air to water intercooler radiator is mounted - basically sits right under the gearbox THERE IS NO ROOM!
We are waiting on some sensor stuff - some bits have come and are getting tested. All the little fiddly bits add up and take time - we should get an
engine start this week - im not goona guess as to a finish time.
Im starting to miss the car a little more now, though things have been really busy, therefore i don't notice it as much.
Should have some photos tomorrow night.
