How much difference does it make to the handling?
Does the car still tend to understeer?
I assume the shocks are Konis or something similar?

the front bar is a 18mm, the rear a 22mm
how much difference? try oil starvation has become a problem (yes it's full & only doing 4400rpm).
corners at high speed are taken at 105 instead of 80kmph. thats 20%!
its now balanced perfect, no understeer no oversteer.you point it where you want and it goes there.if it needs a bit more, you can give it a bit more
turn on the wheel. imagine being able to change lines on long constant radius corners, in a swing axle!
on the few occasions i've managed to get it sideways in the wet, when it flicks back (as swing axles do!), it goes back to center and not past, and
squats and powers on. no "tank slapping". on the dirt its similar, its easy to predict how far its going to go and it holds there, and gradually
straightens back to center-yummy
shocks are 15 year old pedders sports, konis soon, how did you guess?
the pedders were there before the bars, as were the same tyres (195 & 205 potenza), so its been a direct comparision with and without the
bars.....guess its easy to see that i'm totally stoked with them.

isn't it dangerous for some reason to put a sway bar on the rear of a swing axle car? do you have any camber limiting device?

not when the bar is specifically designed for a swinger.

a respray by accident?-green wins-matt black looses
well well, who would have thought a smashed windscreen could lead to extensive repairs and an almost total respray!
first thing was to fix the rust under the corners of the screen. easy...a panel beater friend that was at Volksrestore in its hey day can sort
that......
so you get that done and it looks so good! the panel beaters are quiet, the first bit was done the day after i got the smashed screen, perhaps they
would like to take the bonnet, that has a giant peeling patch dead center, back to bear metal (laz also straightens and adjusts it and now it latches
with a gentle one finger push)....done!
i really should get the indicator holes welded and smoothed too (they've had 3 seperate sets of bullet hole stickers covering them for a couple of
years)...knock out that ding on the corner and repair where the tyres rubbed before, ohh, and the sections under the running boards need
help....cool!
now i'm addicted!...do the front beaver panel- the overider holes have to go and the point on the bottom of the spare wheel section needs
"restoring", after being turned inside out from landing on the nose after a jump(don't ask-i REALLY drive my car)
so they do that and i get the call to say they're done a couple of days after i drove in there...stoked!
well its hard to match old paint isn't it!
the roof got done with the front, but the sides and rear guards now look rather dull-there are a couple of patches of mis-matched paint where rust
has been slaughtered before................oh bugger it!, do the top of the doors, rear guards-cracks and overider holes. need new indicator
housings?-no problem.
better straighten the rear apron (AGAIN!). weld up the cracks in the doors just below the 1/4 vent windows...
the white sides and scallops remain the same, but thats the story of how you end up getting a nice "all holes welded"
accidental respray!

yeah pete, 'tis still linkpin with late discs in porsche pattern.
Raf-the guages are angled towards the driver, very visible actually. a berg temp stick will light up the speedo oil light if the glovebox lid is
closed and motors getting hot.....foolproof.

well, after the apprentice backed into "bugs-money", the bonnet was removed as the car was required for transport. after putting up with the ratty
look white bonnet for almost two months!!! (don't ask), i decided to push the scallop issue a bit further.
all of 1 hour was spent to mask, remove, paint and reinstall the bonnet before driving down the road in the rain to get back to work...........t bars
were added that night to aid the hot rod look.
thank god, a week later, the bonnet was fixed and finally re-sprayed in the correct color.(it took three attempts)
the original carbon deck lid has also been painted green, the second generation one resides on the car at the moment, and looks 100% better
polished fuchs' should be ready for August, i hope........

well, bordering on schitzophrenic,"bugsmoney" has now taken on the personality of a tourer
underneath is not looking so hot at the moment. the floor pan is slowly dissapearing (i hate living on the coast) i'm thinking it's time for a new
chassis,a narrowed beam, and finishing the 1776...... this could get interesting

thanx Sam, looks right up your alley, surprised you don't have one....
yeah Astro, new brakes all good.
(brake thread here)
suffered from some "knock off" producing a long peddle.......assumed it to be coming from the rear, but when the car was up off the ground a quick
check on the front revealed all.....
....i had replaced the dual locking nuts on the front stubs with the later balljoint style split nut (aftermarket for link pins) with the allen key
lock......well, the only thing stopping my wheels going down the road on their own was the thickness of these nuts!!!!!!!.... they had come loose and
the grease cap was the only thing stopping them from falling right past the end of the stub......all good now tho
as for the local gossip Steve, yes, i was was one of the 10 "lucky" people who had their tyres slashed in the car park a fortnight ago. two week old
potenza's. with the fuchs i had to go to 60 series fronts, and
they rub, hence the renewed interest in a narrowed beam...... it's looking like it will be a balljoint one tho and that means the berg five speed and ZF will be coming out of storage WHOO hOO!
