WOW!
Thanks everyone for posting those pictures and links!
Sounds like it was an excellent event as always.
Good to hear from Mike Kristen, that he got in some very quick passes,(6.1 and 6.0 at 121 and 123mph)
taking off in second gear and with only 24 psi boost,(I used 37 to 42!).
Also good to hear from Peter, Troy and Ross over the course of the week end,
and that they both ran in the sixes, with Pagey going to the final.
Pete running into the 6.80's with a normally asirated combo is awsome,
and Ross's Houndog 103 mph shows how much promise that car holds.
Looks like James' fasty was finally showing its true potential,
and sounds like DoC's Shrapnel had an awesome debut!
Good work everyone, competitors and organizers!

Thanks to all the peeps who came from interstate, the quality of cars was A1.
Congrats to David O on an awesome debut with shrapnel!!!!! love it , looks hot and performs just as well.
And Peter Page with Rod engine, WOW !! a perfect package!!!! Awesome guys!
My Junka had not enough clutch for the power but still broke an input shaft or the reverse gear sleeve that joins the input shaft to the main shaft,
work that one out?
John in stylin ground third gear one to many times and now needs a gearbox freshen up.
James was doing well in his fastback , just taking it slowly at his own pace getting use to it and going 90 mph.
Mark was still trying to find out how to make the little 1994cc engine leave on boost on a good track.
We all had a good weekend, thanks to all who participated.

pete and i have just got home now 4pm, what a drive but a great weekend, the car ran perfectly except for a small clutch issue which we pulled the
engine out and fixed it up. With rods engine the car ran PB after PB to petes delight and now we can hit willowbank for 10s. Thanks to westi and macca
for the help and laughs keeping us awake on the road..

This photo was captured near Beechworth/Glenrowan area--where Ned Kelly committed his rustling/shootings etc.
Pictured is one of his ancestral descendants with a trophy wrongfully possessed. He had to drive 100Ks to be out
of Pagey's reach before he was game enough to pose with the much coveted quick 8 trophy. What a hard luck
story with Pagey's yacht being blown down the track to red light & Rod blowing the clutch at the line to coast
on through for the win.A real let down for Pagey as Rod normally uses both sides of the strip to reinstate red
light losers.Anyway Pete I hope that is the worst thing that will happen to you the rest of your life.
ps Rod still had the same smile on his face all the next day too & was an enjoyable sight as Rod is most helpful & giving of
himself.Cheers--Ross

Here are some shots of the sand buggies...Jamie from CUSTOM BUGS & BUSES,myself & Gary were lucky to go for a ride in the
1300 Suzuki Hyabusha engined buggy. It was geared down but believe me 170Ks sideways on sand is a real buz...Bruce the pilot
was about my age or a little more this made me feel safe as us oldies value our bones.Ross

Dear Mat...have posted these sand buggies for you as you displayed some interest in riding in one.The 1300
unit seemed to accelerate like my drag car & what these guys do with them on the side of the dunes is
something trying to explain it with words is impossible.Portland was well organised thanks to Hughesy & reasonably
well represented.Seeing Mike's low six was very rewading to watch & a testament to his persistence.Rod aka Ned
Kelly 6.41 on a 6.4 was a good calculation for a thief !!!The Dog's engine I found had been chained up with the
limiter indicator on 8,400 & the engine cutting spark @8k. On my last run I got game and looked at the tacho as it
went flat in 3rd.It has been a wonder with the numbers being down for its power but has given the old fellow some
bum in it time.Have a go at this immaculate Mitso buggy..Regards-Ross.
