Yep malcolm, am happy thus far with the rust bullet - my only criticism is that it doesn't self level as well as por15, but next time I use it, I'll
probably brush the necessary areas that are hard to get to, then use a small roller to go over the larger flat surfaces. So far it seems pretty
durable though!

Sanded the tank back the other day and shot some high build primer.
Then the base coat and clear went on (the underside is painted in killrust for longevity whereas the top is nice and shiny in the paint below).

Bit of an update - new steering box and KYB GR2 shocks installed on all four corners. (third pic doesn't show rear shock - wasn't bolted on for that
pic).
Overall it is starting to come together pretty nicely.

Thought it was about time to get started on the wiring. I am trying to reuse a lot of the original loom but will be changing to modern blade style
fuses. Most connections will be new and a lot of new wire so the electrical system should be functioning flawlessly once completed. More updates soon
hopefully although the wiring will take a while!

G'day Derek, I am not sure of the paint colour - I bought the body already painted off a mate (its pan went under my ragtop resto)....I will be
checking up with him over the next few weeks though as some areas require repainting - will update then!
By the way, for anyone reading I've decided to try and get this beasty ready for the Warwick drag weekend - I will be putting my type IV in for the
weekend (if I get it all ready) then removing it so a 1600 can go back in prior to the sale of the completed resto - so stay tuned over the next
month!

Yep, would be cool to catch up for a couple of beers some time plus a cruise.
Been making a little progress on the project - wiring is not too far from being sorted. Also I've got the wheels and tyres (145 fronts and 185 rears)
ready to go on (you'll have to wait a little longer to find out what they are), but here are the tyres anyway.
I've installed gas struts on the bonnet to get away from the pesky springs, also the empi shifter was slotted in place. I've been painting a few
bits and pieces like bumper brackets and steering column tube etc - hopefully it will start to come together quickly once a few parts arrive that
I've been waiting for.

The tyres are nankang 185/65 and 145 (don't have a side profile written on the wall).....the wheels, well you'll just have to wait a little longer
for all to be revealed! (they are nothing that different or exciting, I just thought I'd tease for a little while!).

Malcolm,
I bought mine from Andy at http://www.volkfolks.biz - around $66 per quart tin (just
under 1L).
I brushed mine on but I think it would give a better finish (no brush marks) with a small disposable foam roller (I used this technique with some
killrust and it worked well). I have four quarts still which Andy sent up to me - if you did want some I can send it/them to you and you can just sort
out payment with Andy (otherwise you could order it directly from him of course).

Pretty happy with the wiring progress thus far - pretty much all sorted (pending trouble shooting after I get a battery). The new Facet electric fuel
pump was wired up and new lines were plumbed in place with filter prior to and after pump.....as well as at the end of the main line up the back of
the car.
It is definitely overkill, but for the sake of cheap disposable filters, you can never have too much protection so they say. A lot of the original
loom was maintained but some new wiring integrated along with the new blade style fuse panels. Just a few misc underbody pics to follow.

'Tis mightly clean under there - someone should be pretty happy with this car once done. The RustBullet looks pretty cool against the black
details.
Looks like I may not get the type IV in for the Warwick weekend so I'll probably be racing with a stocko 1600 - should still be lots of fun though.
The type IV requires the later style throw-out bearing which slides on the guide tube. This early box doesn't have the tube and although an adaptor
is available (~US$80), time and money unfortunately don't allow the change.
So my plans are to try and finish this thing and have it registered before the warwick weekend with the 1600 that will stay in for the sale.That is of
course unless plans change again! (as they seem to do)

Dave, I have a standard type IV 215mm clutch and pressure plate, but the box has the early style throw out bearing. I totally forgot about those rings
for the pressure plate - if you have one I'd be happy to use it!
You are a bad influence brad! I'd be happy to run the type IV...as long as I don't have to shell out too much more $ to get it in the blue bug.

By the way, anyone know somewhere in oz I can source a new mallory unilite dizzy and promaster coil? Aircooled.net was out of stock and couldn't tell
me when they will get one in....my old one stayed in the ragtop on the 1916 so although I'll have access to a gt40 and 009 for warwick if necessary
(thanks brad), it would be nice to have the mallory in place!

Hey Dave, is it okay if I borrow that bearing adaptor then? I'll obviously replace it if I happen to destroy it! You may just be my saviour for some
type IV power at warwick rather than a measly 1600! (not that there is anything wrong with that)
Not that the type IV will be pumping out much power, but at least it should be a bit more fun!
