Fully restored 1971 VW Thing (Type 181) in excellent condition, with all details and era accessories correct.

The car has has won VW Nationals and other shows on a number of occasions as best in its class.

I am confident that you will not find a better type 181 in Australia.

Car is currently on club registration which is not transferrable.

Comes with full manuals, a binder of history and a range of spares.

I have owned the car for 6 years and it has only been used on club events.

If you are a Volkswagen enthusiast and are after a unique and fun multi-function vehicle then I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

EXCELLENT CAR

AND A 4 DOOR Air Cooled VW...

I thought all type 181 were LHD and the type 182 was RHD ??

and I believe a VW THING was only LHD?? as sold in the USA & Canada
from 1972..

I'm not knocking the vehicle which is excellent...

but a RHD VW Thing ?? NOT a RHD TREKKER from the UK.. [1975]

EX NATO?? Just wondering where it came from?

Perhaps a private import from Bali. There are lots of these in RHD over there.

I think this is known as a 182 which is the RHD version - aparently a few sold here. Lots more in Indonesia though.

The vehicle is a 181 and German Built, it was 181 RHD ex the factory, as evidenced by its birth certificate, it was imported in 1971 by Volkswagen for the Melbourne Motor Show.
