buffing machine

I've been doing the phone around thing but can't find an answer  so Im hoping someone here can help..

I've inherited an old buffing machine and included with it are two bars which I think are buffing medium, as they have been used they are not full bars but impressed into the bars is " ORIO", wether that is the complete brand (if it is a brand ) I'm not sure, one of the bars is green and one is red, I'm assuming that this denotes the grade ( fine / course ?) also they are of a fairly hard substance so I'm assuming that the friction of the buffing pads will sort of melt them onto the pad. They are about 40mm square roughly. Anyone here have a clue as to what they realy are?

You've rung a few bells in my head, as a apprentice I had to polish a lot of harley parts.. but I can't remember what each colour was for.. I know there was also a white and a grey which was softer again I think.

It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!

think we used to call it buffing rouge...different colours/grades for metal polishing.
my old boss used to hold it against cloth wheels on a bench grinder while spinning then polish metal parts with it.

Orion is the brand.
The dark grey is coarse Fastcut, used with sisal mop, which has rope within it.
The red one is medium Tripoli, used with a stitched cloth mop.
The green one is Rouge, which is used with a loose leaf calico mop

josco.com.au has a good website

Thanks fellas, much as I thought but I hadn't picked up on the two ( or more ) buffing pads, spose it stands to reason though. Also good to know about the other grades, the full name helps also as I caan now track down the other grades.
Thanks
Don

Orion is a brand name of Ferro Finishing. This is trade quantity and larger bars. They make the products in smaller bars branded for Josco.
