6 to 12v conversion

Picked up a 66 bug today and want to do a 12V conversion, plan to install air bags later on down the track so need to be able to run a compressor.

What do I need for the conversion and is there any good links to follow?
thanks

Hmm, I think Speedy Jim from the US covers this on his website but otherwsie plenty of info on the tinterweb.

Basically it's battery, genny/alt, regulator, wiper motor, indicator relay and all light bulbs. The 6V horn and starter should be fine altho the starter can get hot if you crank for more than the usual time it takes for the flat 4 to fire.

When i did mine, i put a later model engine in, so i had to grind the gearbox and put a 12v starter as the 12 & 6 V teeth are different.
