Vac or no vac?

Just got my dual ICT's Hooray!

I already decided to bin the 009 and go vac advance (Pertronix flame thrower1 inc coil)

However the supplied instructions for the Empi ICT's say they work best with 009!!!

1641, single port, stock cam, heads etc in a beetle.

What do you all think?

Cheers
Dave

Always vac IMO. However, try and get a vac reading from the std kit as you can have either too little vac from a single carb or too much from a twin carb t'd together.

Many people do run the 009 but it's quite hard to remove the flat spot just off idle and the vac don't suffer from that :)

009 flat spot is with a 34 PICT as they are set up lean. Dual carbs work fine with a good 009

Kads and ICts are prone to the flat spot too if the jetting ain't right. MAinly down to the emulsion tube but at the end of the day you're just chucking more fuel at the flat spot to stop the engine from bogging.

Vac advance allows the engine to pull properly from the idle to main carb circuit. I've always found a vac advanced engine to drive better, more smoothly, than a non vac. This is just my finding from owning such small capacity engines and working on them in the past.
