super bug lowering
dont really want to buy dropped spindles as yet so how do you lower the front of a super bug, it has the coils over the front shocks, can you use
adjusters or is there another method, also wanting to narrow the front end any good how tos to read

the front end cant be narrowed to my knowledge but the best way to lower a sbug is the struts from v force its ether that or maxx struts both are
adjust able

You can have the cups on the struts relocated which will give you a drop. This is the cheaper option short of spending the big bucks. I've done it to
my Super and have a 3 inch drop, with no issues, but still retain standard travel. It's not the best option, but a good $$ saver. Are you in Sydney?

I agree with barls but I could not afford Vforce struts and it was a daily for my daughter
What I did was use early golf struts and outers and adapt spring cones to them 2" drop and same ride
Still running 165s with a little rubbing and looking to try 155s
Keep in mind the smaller the spring diameter the harsher the ride

As for narrowing beams it is not necessary / possible.
By putting narrowed springs on and getting the correct offset wheels it is possible to get 8" or 9" x 17" under stock guards
Snotty the green beetle on the V Foce site has these wheels
Pick the wheels you want and check the offset to see if you need the thinner springs.
Generally any wheel wider than 5.5" that FITS under stock guards will need thinner springs
Best way is to come over and see some Supers at Mortlake (V Force) Mine is a 2 bolt set up and Snotty is a 3 bolter. There is a selection of wheels
they could show you

Nice one squizy but be careful you dont lose tha initial soft dampening(first part of travel ) of the strut that would put you in the mid range
straight away
If that makes any sense

I will be pedantic and correct this
It is not the smaller spring that makes the harsher ride it is the fact that V Force usually starts at 135 lbs
Stock is like 85lbs
You can get thin springed 85lbs (but why??:jesus)
Considering for under a grand you get lowered, new springs, inserts and space for wide wheels
Compare this to a narrowered beam with berg adjusters, extended shock towers and new shocks.

By "just" lowering the cup you are "squashing" the stock insert.
You should put a shorter strut in at the same time

Hi
You cant buy drop spindles for a super bug, the lower ball joint would hit the wheel.
As suggested above the adjustable struts are the way to go. Adjustable struts also use a smaller diameter spring to give more wheel & tyre clearance,
you can narrow the front a little, it was done on the Acid Rush 75 that Vintage did, it was featrured in VMA a few issues ago. Using the adjustable
struts with the smaller diameter springs they basically moved the strut tops inboard and shortened the lower control arms.

Please correct me but my point was if the spring rates are the same which spring will be harsher large or small?

Did just this exact same thing to my 1302 so I could fit the Cookie cutters with 944 single pot brakes under stock front guards(2 bolt
arrangement).... the biggest issue I have with this is the amount of steering lock I've lost! Supers never had a very good turning circle to begin
with! My recommendation if you are thinking you want to narrow the front a little would be to fit toplines camper + kit. If you have a 2 bolt super
then you can pull the lower mount inwards to shorten the control arms, and correct your positive camber out at the strut to hub/spindle/ steering
knuckle whatever you like to call this.
Don't get too caried away though as you only want to shorten the lower arm by the amount you can push the tops in by, or less.

The V Force struts are like $900 - $1000 depending on springs and inserts
He also does camber compensators.

I think you got it wrong, the German Look is the new look, the old look is Cal look. Cal look is inspired by drag racing, German look is inspired
Auotbahn storming, Kafer cup & curcuit. As our streets have corners is a drag racing style the best way to go?
