Help needed with S bug fuel

The fuel pipe that goes through the tunnel at the fron of the car has been broken off on my 1302 S bug.
Does this mean I have to replace the whole fuel pipe and if so, how do you do it?
Will a standard beetle fuel pipe fit?

Thanks
Yogie

Not an easy job.

Fuel line needs to be steel and i believe
1) isnt allowed to be run in passenger cabin
2) not exposed to damage - ie not run under car. That is why it was run inside the tunnell.

The VWMA editor was/is doing a similar job on his fix up in the magazine.

Some good pics in the last edition

It does involve an angle grinder and large holes though :duh

You aint gunna fix it on a lazy Sunday

Thanks Bizarre. I haven't gotten that far yet in the magazine. Will have to get reading. I did find a site on the net that explains it in detail though. Looks like a decent sized job ahead of me.

Cheers

Hi

You can get access to the fuel line from the front of the pan, there is an access cover that unbolts. You would need to really put some thought into making a safe way to extend from the broken line up to your fuel tank. The other way is to cut the tunnel open and fit a new tube.
