rear bumbstops

Was travelling home from the jambo last sunday, when my car started bouncing round more than usual. After some snooping around i discovered that my left rear bumpstop had split open and come adrift.

My question is, has anyone had the pleasure of fitting one of these to a swingaxle bug before, cause it looks like one of those simple jobs that fast turns into a bloody nightmare.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Also, anyone know who sells stock replacements in Melb?

yeah...done that, make sure all the old one is out of the groovy bit it sits in, then a bit of rubber grease or something and wrestle it on
probably get at any vw place....you can get rubber original type or urethane type...i dont know if one is better but urethane is smaller

My suspension is too low to run them. But to get them on, yep rubber grease and some elbow work to squeeze them on. :P

if you insist on running some
ask around the VW shops for some second hand type 3 bump stops.. theyre the short type.. but as far as i know u cannot get them new.. thats what i run on my bug, since having to raise it all after my stocks being oblitterated:D

Thanks everyone, I have just raised my car to stock height for a roadworthy, so I might grab a couple off you Mark if thats ok, then when I drop the car back down, I will whip em off again. Thanks for the tip on the Type 3 stops too Damien, very handy little tip.
