RACING AT 2008 VALLA SPECTACULAR

RACING AT 2008 VALLA SPECTACULAR

Ooorkay racing is on again for this year at the Valla VW Spectacular

Again we will be heading to Raliegh raceway for Friday and Saturday circuit racing.

Entry will be $80 for one day or $120 for the two days, with a different format to the last couple of years.

This will be a racing meet held by the track owners itself and as such, no cams license will be required. There will of course still be a scruitineering process for everyones safety (more details as they arrive)...........but basically if your car is registered and road worthy you will be o.k, as will dedicated track/climb cars of course.

There will be no TIMES being recorded, the racing will be over a set time frame (10minutes maybe) with two cars on the track at a time.........this would allow drivers to complete many laps during each of their sessions as it takes about 1minute per lap around the track........this makes this event very very reasonably priced! It would cost much more to do this much time in a hire kart!

Naturally the entries are open to one and all, experienced or not, slow or fast! For me i find track time very enlightening on how hard my car will go and handle in a safe enviroment....it can be quite eye opening as to where the limits are of your vehicle!........something which you can apply to your everyday driving safety!

Helmets, long pants, long sleeve shirts and covered shoes will be required as per any motorsport event.........there are more details on requirements in the supplimentry regulations available very soon.

Passengers are allowed for an additional $20 , so for all those who have always wanted someone else to experience the fearlings  of your race car and driving ability, here is your chance!!!!

Entries will be held to 30 cars per day (one entry per driver)...........and as such will be held exclusively for VW drivers (US!:dork:) until June 1st. After that entries will be offered to local car clubs to fill the numbers, and believe me, they will fill very , very quickly due to the popularity of these days held at Raleigh now.

Sooo, whos up?..........I will be there in the hellVWrx .:ninja: and hope to have a drifting style set up tuned and tested before then

P.M me for contact details. or VW SPECTACULAR

can't have everything!......there were plenty of people that baulked at the fees last time only to miss out on a great couple of days with plenty of track time for the money...........this time it's multiple laps for even less money:punk:

yes stockies would be fun, treat it as a test and tune, a self taught advanced driving course, a time to show off your skills for a mate, capture your car at full flight on video (to show your grand kids when your racing career is over:lol:) or as a drift session............it's up to you!

... most of all it will be great value and fun, with plenty of track time and great for spectators too, that's the most important bits covered:cool:

how many other VW events provide more than what, 10 to 20 seconds of adrenalin at a time!

...........and yes we would love to have you entered Craig, your driving is always great entertainment!

great news Dave.............will be good, long track time for you matey. do you know the layout of the circuit?

i will grab a list of entrants to post up. we have 16 vee-dubbers so far, so a good showing.............

who else from QLD?...............don't be scared, you won't be able to embarass yourself more than what i will in the notch:).

C.T?.... or are you stuck on straight lines these days?:D

for those attending the event anyways, why not put yourself in for a run..............no need to stay with your car in a "park ferme" there is ample time for wandering, looking and talking as the cars just roll out from the large pit grounds, rather than be clogged in a "grid" waiting for next run!..............this is a great chance for us all to see what the limits of your vehicle's are, in a safe enviroment. think about it, no cops, no gutters to bang into, no pedestrians, no telephone poles, no oncoming traffic..............just learning about YOUR car!

Hi Damo,

I'm tempted. What date is it?

I've got a NSW Supersprint round at Eastern Creek this weekend. I've got a fun day at Oran Park lined up. I'm planning to to Warwick again, via Noosa. Then there's the Dutton in Jak's car.

Regards CT

hope you can make it:tu:

i believe the V-force guys are coming in numbers, so that's good.

Last time I was at Valla the oval misbehaved. It wouldn't start because the heavy cable to the stater motor wan't making enough contact with the terminal. Then the throttle stuck coming into turn 2, which could've been nasty, due to one of the arms on the cross bar linkage sliding along the bar.

That was back in about 2002 when the car had steel wheels and no extra decklid vents.

I'll be at Eastern Creek this Sunday to try and crack the 2 minute mark. I'm sure I'd do it if I bolted new tyres on. The current ones are about 70% worn and I've been racing on them for almost 2 years. At least they maintain their performance with additional heat cycles better than any other brand.

Now it looks like it will be 16 degrees and raining. A sub 2 minute time is no chance.
