gates open early,on Friday as scruit has to be done before 9........ just come on in (i don't think there is any cover charge, will let you know asap)

Saturday normally has gokarts operating to the public before we get there so it's the same deal

come say hello Dave.....remind me to pack some box goodies in your boot before you head home

entries i'm being kept in the dark........

Aaron was certainly keen for a run in THE kombi:!: on the Saturday.........that will be most interesting

Vforce boys.......Glenn Torrens.......three of us in the notch.......the spyder replica is unreal........."wally" Penbose and Craig........Matty and Col in his fresh stroker .......Dave Sidery........i think Wayne Penrose

last i spoke to Luke, the field was full of VW with no need to call on "others"

who else?

went and smoked some tyres yesterday...........track is good, entry road in good condition (some big holes at the end of the dirt but easy to get round)...........hope everyone makes it safely as it was a tad boring doing lap after lap by our selves:yes:

Went to the track today, and back home now.
Some cool and very fast cars and some carnage.
Awesome Guy's Golf,hell-notch, subi-spyder, and a certain black Kombi!!
Gotta love the sounds from numerous aircooleds and four venturis!

Home more turn up tomorrow and fill in the spots of those guys who said they would be there but wern't.
I drove 9 hours today in the hope to see them.

Excellent effort Luke, Daimo, and all the guys that were there!

Forgot to catch up before I left Daimo....DOH!!!!....I am sure Craig H or Dave Sidery can be trusted to get the goodies to me on their way home.

Hi Andrew,
The Landcruiser sits smoothly on 2000 rpm at 100, so it was no probs.
I had every intention of staying for a couple of days of Volksy fun,
but priorities meant the best comprimise was a return trip the same day.

Sorry we did not catch up John, were you at the track?
Last visit to Valla for me was 1994,
and some good news from Wayne Penrose was some video of my blown car doing a lap or two
at Raleigh way back then.
Pretty keen to see the video so I can see if my good memories of the day, and reality, are one in the same.

well a massive 2 days...............

brief descripition,

a blue circuit racer into the wall

a very fast black kombi doing well for the first time on a curcuit

a spyder into the gravel trap

plenty of rocker gasket leaks and consequent spins on the oil trails

plenty of frantic work going on in the pits

and a good thing i packed the "spare" race car as the good one had a massive engine fire/explosion

everyone is alive and well YAY!

yep..........unforseeable in the middle of a line where it was not rubbing or kinked :fakesniff: for the record it wasn't a fitting or clamp that came off............anyways, everyone near and in the car escaped unharmed and the car will go again eventually.

its fairly common for VWs to run at their very best just before they let go..............the notch was "on fire" for the 3 days before KABOOM!

THANKYOU WAYNE PENROSE and others? for being so quick with the extinguishers. i owe you big time!

thankyou to all those who went out to the track to watch, the people who gave up their time to help at the track and importantly those who entered the lap dash in their street cars and racers alike............it was certainly a spectacle to behold...............WELL DONE EVERYONE!

All I can say is man, what an AWESOME couple of days.

Was brilliant meeting/catching up with some folks from here, picking the odd brain here and there to get some extra tips on car setup, and not to mention some serious play time on the track. My first real sprint session with Jezebel and man am I hooked.

Now I can't wait for the next Valla to come around - hopefully won't be a clash with the hillclimb series and I'll be able to stay the full weekend !!!

Thanks to the organisers for putting on what is always a great couple of days. Thanks to Luke Pell for organising the days proceedings and to the VRA guys.
Was good to catch up with Daimo and Jeff that notch gets better everytime i see it.
Was good to put a face to the name Dave and if you do decide to give the King Edward Park hill climb in october a go let me know.
Glen will have to catch up for a beer and talk brakes some time soon cause your setup seems to be working really well.
I can't wait till valla 2010 cause every year its getting better.

thanx Marty and Dave for the haul to get there and SUPPORTING the racing............got any videos? because i spent a lot of Friday underneath the notch and sadly hardly saw anyone run:no:.............i did see JVL spannering in my engine bay and i rekon it could be a case sabotage so he wasn't forced into having a ride:D

yes notch was really hooked up with it's new clutch, better power delivery and oodles more HP now the boost was all going into the motor...........the beast it was in the past has been tamed, we wll make the effort to get out more often now it's more user friendly

Aaron..........thankyou for putting on a show in THE kombi.............this guy must be the nicest person i have ever met:!:.........he was very nervous having never done any track work in the matt black machine, he was unsure of the track lines nor just how well his car would handle or stop (we new it would certainly GO!)............but being the smart man he is, he took his time and by Saturday afternoon was wearing a grin bigger than anyone.

well done mate:yes:..........your machine is ooorsum and just gets better every time we see it

Here you go Daimo.

I have some video footage of the notch going around the track too, but off to work now. so i will put them up tomorrow.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a17/Aussieveedubbers/VALLA%202008/Racing/Hell1.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a17/Aussieveedubbers/VALLA%202008/Racing/Hell2.jpg

What we saw of what happened to the notch was like this.
It came out of the long sweeper after the finish line and stated to miss fire, going through the rest of the track it looked like a water line was leaking or something.
Then as it came through the pits the entire boot just gushed out liquid then Boom.
