Volks conversions sell upgraded german numbers for somewhere around $330 with a clutch disc. I think they where somewhere around 50% more clamping
pressure. Kennedy ones will be well over $600 by now with the dropping Aussie dollar. I've got an email from Kennedy that quoted about $450US
including postage from about 6 months ago.

I got mine from mike at cbb think it was about $220.00 and is rated at 800kg clamping which is about 1700lbs at a guess. so far no slip at all with a
stock 215 disc and a heavy 1090kg type 3 full of work gear . And i'm up to 45000 km's on it. I dont race it though gearbox and cv's dont like it.

ta klaus. I'm actually keen for a ceramic friction plate I reckon. A mate has one and apparently they aren't effected by oil like an organic plate.
I'll check the pressure plate out though.

Nooo, don't do it. I had one, made the car very hard to drive on the road and the beach, it either wanted to be on or off, was hard to get it to
slip. I ended up melting it after 6 months cos i worked out how to make it slip and yeah, they don't like it. Not only that, but the harshness will
put a lot more strain on the gearbox.
That was my first clutch setup, standard vw pressure plate, ceramic button clutch.
My second setup was a standard vw friction plate and kennedy stage 2 pressure plate. Although the clutch pedal is a bit harder its smooth as, and has
lasted for years, no slip with the Ej20.
Do you know where the oil's coming from (rear main seal?). When i last had the engine out there was only dry powdery sand inside the clutch, didnt
look like it was affecting it, after a clean it all looked new still, but it definitely wasnt oily.

there's no oil in there at all now. it got some when the last trans died. we'll see how it goes in the mean time and update the clutch if it slips.
thanx for letting me know about the ceramic setup. the mate that recommended it has it in a 1600 datto rally car. very different to a buggy I guess.
