Thanks for the reply and I was able to locate a thermostat locally in the US. Since I have the radiator removed I have decided to replum the lines
like yours. Currently I am using a Jetta coolant recovery tank and the top of the tank has a 1/4" line at the top and a 5/8 line at the bottom. The
1/4 line seems small for the coolant to return from the reversed manifold to the coolant tank. What size is your line? Might need to find me a new
tank. Also, did you plug the end of reversed manifold where the heater supply line use to be? Sorry for all the questions just trying to get all my
ducks in a row.

Both lines at the top of the coolant tank are purely for self burping, NOT flow, mine are 6mm. The main bypass flow is the heater circuit which must
remain permanently open.
5/8" is what I used at the bottom of the tank to stock heater return.
I actually put an additional manual bleed point on the other end of the coolant manifold but it wasn't needed at all so wouldn't bother, just block
it up.
When you remove the stock thermostat, don't actually refit with nothing there are you need to maintain the correct compression for the seal, I cut
the centre out of the original thermostat and reokaced the remaining ring, you could just cut out a ring in the right thickness material too..

After 9 weeks of chasing, my second trimmer only managed to get the door panels and roof hinge covers done... I've now bitten the bullet and gone
with a very good guy I've used before, just more expensive, but I know that he will do very good work and for my deadline which is the end of
June.
I also had issues with the iphone dock, it seems the docks aren't straight through electrically and Alpine have a particular way of connecting
together. I tried opening it up and making more connections but it still doesn't work... Any ideas?!?

Headlining's been trimmed I gather? if not, trim it the same as the interior, then your visors will be right, otherwise tough decision.

the headlining in a cabrio is a bitch and I've already done it, you have to practically dismantle the roof to get access to it all and I think a
headlining the same colour as the trim would be a bit oppressive....

Another idea... I could make up some black perspex sunvisors like the really early VWs, I think with them being a different material would stop any
clashes and I've been wanting to do some of those for years...

The pictures above drove me into coming up with a replacement set of sunvisors quickly! Although they matched the headlining I think they clashed
badly with the roof down. I'd have the idea of making up some smoked plastic ones, in the style of early VWs, for a while so decided now was the
time! Above is what a stripped sunvisor looks like, all this just to get the pivot.
I then made up a hinge assembly and cut some 5mm tinted perspex to shape and this is how they ended up, I'm very happy with this look.. At the same
time I also painted the rear-view mirror base black to match.

I've tried flame polishing and a heat gun on scraps but it was distorting the edges slightly. I'll do a bit more wet sanding and polish at some
point but they are pretty good as they are... I was impatient to see the effect!

I'm probably going to make some more hinge bits better at some point. These are just thick sheet aluminium bent around the rod and bolts through the
sheet and perspex sandwiching it. Tightening up the bolts gives more friction to the hinge. Really nothing complicated

I got fed up with messing around trying to trick the stock ECU to make the correct boost with my much modified from stock (subaru) intake and exhaust
so I have now fitted a Gizzmo MS-2 electronic boost controller. This has closed loop boost control as well as turbo timer and FCD (which I won't be
using). It now finally makes 1.1 bar without overshooting and hitting the fuel cut but I will still be playing with the rate at which boost comes in.
I had a second ashtray surround which I welded up and modified to fit the Gizzmo controller. It certainly feels a lot quicker now so my times will
undoubtedly be better!

It's no lightweight, heading for 1100kg with a full tank from the MOT, shold get it weighed properly at some point..
