I already have cutting brakes. But currently have two snapped handbrake cables 
Next weeks pay will be going into some new ones, and I might even have a crack at a mkIII design of my cutting brakes.

Awesome effort for 31inch all terrains and open diff. 34inch centipedes and a diff lock would have you idling through that track without stopping.
Gotta love a baja thats used for what they were originally designed for.

This is up in the swamps between Limburners Creek & the beach, North over the river from Port Macquarie. I was taking building materials in
towards our 'shack' on the creek.
In this one you can see the 'turfor' winch cable. I fell into the wheel ruts and got stuck (there were 3 of us in the car) on the way in, but on the
way out, with just me in the car, I got out OK.
This is where your big wheels & wheel travel, and high ground clearance come into their own. :-)
One day, if I can outlive my wife so I will be allowed, I will get my 69 in the garage finished into the baja that I want.

I locker would be fantastic! And you're not wrong about the tyres. My all terrains are starting to get very worn, they've been on 2 years now and
have done over 85000km!
I'm very much considering some mud tyres for my next purchase, but we'll see how everything goes.

Hahahahaha! Very nice work Jeff! I bet not many people have taken an L bug down a track that sloppy! I certainly hope that you can get your Baja done

Went back out offroading yesterday to do some more exploring.
Decided to drive that hard track again. Did it about a thousand times quicker cause I knew the right lines.
I replaced both my handbrake cables (again  ) on Friday
afternoon and adjusted the rear brakes up. Got to use the cutting brakes and they really helped out while flexing through and getting a little light
on one back wheel.
The Patrol and the Hilux opted to take the long way round 
Then I decided to plant Alyce in the ground to see if I could get her to grow even bigger
Front wheel disappeared into the earth.
My friend Mike was trapped in the passenger's side.
It was a lot softer then suspected!!!
Had to get strapped out.
Time for a good wash I think. All in a day's work for Alyce the Baja, I love this car so much!

I was really really tempted, I definitely need to start driving down to some of those beach trips. I have no excuse, they are only 6 hours away.

Well during the week I pulled the bottom half of the airbox off in order to add somewhere to attach my prefilter.
It will be going on the LHS above the dissy.
Cut a suitable piece off a Commodore inlet tube.
And it wasn't long before we had it all welded in place.
Still a little tidying up to be done. I might give it all a smooth out with the die grinder and inspect for holes.
All that is left to do now is weld up the original spare hole that is in the front side of the airbox. As well as a few little ones that were the
original bolt mounting holes.
Hoping to do a little more tomorrow afternoon.

You mean the framehead on the front and the torsion housing on the back?
I have seen this done where someone welded another torsion housing onto the car at the back directly under the stock one. Can't remember what he had
at the front.
Problems with this is you are adding a lot of extra weight, would have to gusset the crap out of it like you said, I'm not sure of legality? and you
are not actually gaining any ground clearance. Cause you are only moving the body up on the suspension, not winding the suspension up for more
height.

Sort of but not welding under the existing, cut off the existing. Legality is an issue but I know of a mechanic that did it to lower a car and
engineers couldn't tell (what you don't know can't hurt you?). As far as clearance your right Smiley, it does only give a body lift. Gusseting was
done with 10mm steel.

Hey all. Just a few quick pictures. I managed to finish welding up the holes in the bottom half of the airbox on Friday so I could fit my
prefilter.
Cut out a piece and welded it in to fill the factory inlet hole.
And plug welded up the factory mounting holes.
Mounted back in place.
The air is now draw from the side instead of directly off the fanhousing. I'm hoping that the inlet air will be a bit cooler now it's not pulling
from off the hot fanhousing.
Airbox and prefilter fitted back onto the car.
And here's a picture with the engine scoop back in place.
And what better way to test it out then a trip up the beach on Saturday

Little bit of a late post on here but Alyce and I had a fantastic time down at Warwick!
It was my first time ever racing so I was a little nervous of how things were going to go.
Drove her around 800km either way to get down to Warwick and back. She ran like a watch the entire time, oil temps were very good, a lot better then
the last big drive we did, some of the improvements are showing. Even got better fuel economy then normal too. Though I still think I can go down one
more main jet size.
Had some great days on Saturday and Sunday racing and trying to remove as much weight from the car as possible
Ended up running my best on Sunday morning practice with a 11.442 at 57.32mph. A little slower than I hoped but pretty good for a big heavy Baja Will certainly be racing again next year, it's too much fun not too!
Here's a few quick pictures.
Well drag racing one weekend, followed by an 800km road trip home. Drive her to work everyday. And then UP THE BEACH THE NEXT WEEKEND!!!
We had such great weather I couldn't resist taking the 'race car' for a run up to 5-Rocks today.
Gee she is doing some hard miles!!!

When I got home this arvo I started work on a long range fuel tank for Alyce.
Pulled this out of a Kombi at home. Given the state of the bus I was expecting the lower half to be reddish brown and very 'swiss cheese' looking.
But turns out the tank is in great condition and very clean inside.
Pulled everything out of the back on the car and sat it in place. Though it is sitting up on the outlet pipe I have to say that the fit in the car is
amazing. Perfect spacing between the wheel wells, the seatback still swings against its stops with an inch to spare and still going to leave some room
up top for storage
Filler is going to go out in here.....
.....through to here somewhere.
Still a little more parts collecting to be done. I also need to source a new sender cause the one in the tank is inoperable. And some fill tubes.
I will build a frame for it to sit in then a new firewall over the top.

Cool long range tank idea. I assume you are going to allow it to drain to the front tank, but are you going to have a large enough drain so you can
fill both tanks from the one filler.

Nope. Just going to tee it into the fuel line with a switchable fitting. So I can change between tanks.

Well I got a little bit more done on the rear tank today.
Made up a frame out of 25x25x3mm angle.
I had to notch the 2 side pieces slightly so the tank would fit down in it. I couldn;t make the frame any wide or it won't fit between the wheel
wells in the back of the car.
The tank fits very nicely into the frame.
And the frame is a nice tight fit into the back of the car.

Looks like I've been sprung. Long story short, Alyce got defected by the police. So I've been working on her getting her tidied up and sorted ready
for a RWC. After about a week of phone calls and butting heads with the Transport department and Police station it came down to me getting a RWC and
taking it in to the police station and they will lift the defect.
While I had her apart I decided to make and fit the rear disc brake conversion, and fit a standard weight flywheel cause lightened ones suck! Among a
lot of other little fixes and tidying up I've had to do. I've been too busy to put anything up on here but have been taking some pictures and will
try and do a proper update soon.
There's still lots to do and she's booked in for a RW Wednesday afternoon. I need her back on the road before Christmas, or I'm going to kill
myself. I'm already getting withdrawals from not having been offroading in too long!
