A production Type 3 Cabrio was never produced. A prototype was built, and is in the VW museum.

And it doesn't look anything like that!

Here is the one in the Wolfsburg museum.

Quote:

From VWVortex:

As Volkswagen Model History by Joachim Kuch says: "The brochures were already printed; the price was set at 8200 DM. But testing showed the body didn't have enough torsional stiffness and so it was never added to the model line."

As a comparison, a basic 1200 Beetle cost 4500 DM, VW 1500 cost a bit under 6000 DM and Karmann Ghia Type 32 Cabriolet cost 9500 DM. (prices are from different years and can vary a bit..)

Regards,

Matt.

I think I just threw up a little when I saw that Fasty....such a shame. Sorry if it belongs to you, I dont mean to be horrible, just realistic.

As for the factory one in the museum, now THAT is a thing of beauty!! I'd roll something like that for sure!
