Lawnmower oil in Beetle
Our Beetle had the oil light come on a couple times yesterday, so I checked the oil level and it only just show on the stick. I looked in the shed,
and all I could find was some Briggs and Stratton heavy duty air cooled engine oil W30. I put enough in to make the dipstick happy.
So I would assume this oil is only W30, not a multigrade like proper automotive oil.
Should be ok for another 6 months or so yeah?

Yes
its just straight 30 weight oil not multigrade
like originally used in beetles...
but made them last too long... lol

I use magnatec in My Mower now as I run out of 30 weight mower oil.. lol
Just make sure its an air cooled lawn mower... lol

Well I suppose the mower has a pretty hard time, considering I haven't changed the oil in 7 years since we have been at this house.
Must be a good oil for what it does.
I might use the rest of it on the beetle.

Fer sure.
In a pinch, you can also use Californaian poppy hair oil, which is about a 5W, so only suitable in Winter or Canberra.

I used to use that oil in my 1916.....nuthin wrong with it...just expensive!!!
