Heads Up - Nationals Supersprint, Wakefield

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/100770/heads-up-nationals-supersprint-wakefield

amazeer ·

Paperwork submitted to CAMS today, hopefully they will turn it around a lot quicker than the hillclimb paperwork I just ran.

In any case you will have at least 3 months to get your entry in. If you arent entered a week before the event you will pay a $30 late fee as was the case last year. The first couple of years you called my bluff because I am a sweetheart, last year you paid and the shock was evident on some faces and tones of voices. It makes it easier for me if entries are in early. If you are struggling to get your car ready in time, enter anyway. If you withdraw before the day you will get your money back. When it is easy for me, it is better for you, the racing will start earlier and be better organised. Pre entrants also go into the draw to win their entry fee back (as per last year).

A couple of things that will be different this year based on feedback from last year. 2 major issues getting cars on track on time, 1 your fault, 1 my fault.

Firstly, in accordance with the above, there will be 3 queues at checkin. If you are pre-entered, paid up, have your CURRENT licence and CURRENT club member card you will go into the priority one gold class express line and you get ticked off in 30 seconds. Go grab a coffee. If you are pre entered, paid up but are doing your licence or membership on the day you will go into business class queue. It will take you a little longer. If you dont have everything in order when you get to the front of either of those queues then you will be sent to cattle class. You will get served once all the people who have done the right thing have been served. You may or may not get out on track on time. Its the fairest system I can think of. Let me know if you have other ideas.

Secondly, the colour grouping for your car will be attached to your entry form. The scrutineers wont be making it up as they go. It will be based on your previous years times or a best estimate based on similar cars. There will be running order sheets at the tower and at scrutineering. That way everyone will know when they are due to go out. Hopefully I wont cop gobs of abuse first thing that ruin my day.

So yeah, keep an eye out for paperwork in the next few days hopefully. I think we should have all bugs ironed out and it will be the best ever. I may not have any nuts left because that is the week of my wife's 40th, but we'll see how we go. Nothing gets in the way of VW's and car racing.

This years vehicle regs are here: http://www.supersprints.com.au/rules-and-regulations/2013/2013%20Vehicle%20Regs.pdf

HappyDaze ·

hellbugged wrote:So is it Wakefield or eastern creek ?????
Whatever.......put me down for it.👍

vw54 ·

It will be at Wakefield Saturday 25th May

I applied for the new sydney track but its not avaialble

SuperOwen ·

I'll go you halves in the rebuild cost Ben and we can split the drive!

HappyDaze ·

Will you be 'playing Polo', Chris?

1303Steve ·

Well done Chris, hopefully all the slackers get their entries in early

amazeer ·

Probably (definitely) not Greg. Would take me far too long to get the bubble wrap off it.

amazeer ·

Entries are open...... now. Entry forms and supp regs are now available to download. Please read through all of the supp regs.

http://www.clubvw.org.au/2013supersprint

amazeer ·

I'll be at WSID on Saturday if anyone wants to bring entries / cash. Shouldn't be too hard to find the white polo with body kit in my sig.

turboty ·

So what is this? An open race day? How is the day run, can I bring my convertible 911 kit car?

1303Steve ·

Its a a Supersprint you can run whatever you have

Jak Rizzo ·

1303Steve wrote:Its a a Supersprint you can run whatever you have
We can also race in the wet................

grinderman ·

My son wants to race his near stock 2002 1.4l polo, can he purchase a CAMS licence on the day? What else would he need besides helmet?

turboty ·

So I dont need a roll cage? It does already have a hoop that is reinforced.

vw54 ·

No you dont need a roll cage but its a good safety item if fitted to your car

HappyDaze ·

I don't think you would be able to run at Wakefield Park in an OPEN car, without some form of roll-over protection.

amazeer ·

Go here to read ALL the info follow the links to all you should ever need including a link at the bottom which explains what a supersprint is. http://www.clubvw.org.au/2013supersprint

If the car is road registered you dont need a rollcage. If you DO have a roll cage it must be CAMS approved. If its not approved you may not be able to run. Stupid rule, but I dont make em. If you DO have one and it IS CAMS approved then it must be 50mm above your helmet when you are seated normally. Stupid rule... uh huh. A road reg car without a cage is eligible, road reg car with one is potentially not. It will depend on how many hours sleep a scrutineer has had.

amazeer ·

You can get your licence on the day but bring your already completed form and photo with you.

All money paid on the day must be cash. There is no eftpos available. If you dont leave something of substantial value as security then cant accept cheques either.

PAZZAN ·

what if you have a road registered buggy with a roll cage all road legal does that pass for the day??????

turboty ·

Can one driver enter more than one car? What would the extra cost be?

MISS VDUB ·

Hey Guys, Chris is just having some login issues at the moment so he's asked me to post this on his behalf...

"Should be OK, we've had buggies run before

Can have a maximum of 2 drivers per car. Entry fee is per driver."

turboty ·

turboty wrote:Can one driver enter more than one car? What would the extra cost be?

Can 1 driver have 2 cars?

amazeer ·

Thanks Ash.

Nobody has ever asked about running 2 cars before. You would have to check with Club VW committee but I would imagine it to be two payments. I dont recommend you try. Jim Richards is the only person I have seen who can really pull off driving 2 cars at the same meeting. Logistically you would probably find that it is impossible to get your full run quota. You cant be out on track in one group and at the same time be lined up in pit lane ready for the next group.

HappyDaze ·

You would obviously need 'someone' to get the other car to the track. They could have the 2nd car lined up, ready for you to jump in, and go.

Who would drive home?......You'd be to buggered.🙂

HappyDaze ·

Chris, you may need to re-classify my No.8 Beetle. Hope to have the 'new' 2276cc motor [ex Ben R.] by then. 👍

lou0060 ·

Hi Chris, I did mine on line last week, can you check it went thru ok, I did get the email reply saying it had gone thru. thanks, Lou

amazeer ·

Hi Lou, you also need to send me through a paper entry form.

amazeer ·

I'm staying in the Wakefield Park cabins on Friday night. I'm thinking that to speed things up on Saturday morning I might do some licence/documentation checking on Friday night. Not sure where I would do it. Maybe at the Paragon or a pub/club. How many would take up that offer?

Entry list is starting to look a lot healthier. We need a few more F Vees or clubmans to fill up that group.

Hi Chris

You can do my documentation Friday night, the field is looking a bit better now.

amazeer ·

List of entries as sent to the timing contractors tonight. Yep I'm aware I have two car #11's. Someone will need to change to 111. There maybe a couple more entries in the mailbox and its not too late to enter. If you know of any missing cars from the list please let me know. I dont know if the Paragon will appreciate it but I will do some simple licence and membership checking on Friday night. If you have them both and they just need to be sighted drop on in. My mobile number is 0423 189 679 if you want to send me a txt to confirm I am there. Paragon cafe is on the right as you head south on main street, orange neon sign out front. Good food and licenced.

Time to start my journey to Wakefield Park and the VW Nationals. Haven't been to the Nationals since about 1998.........SWEET 🙂

See ya there.

Water Boy ·

Super keen!

amazeer ·

Woot home again! Beer o'clock!

Hope you all had a great day. Hope we addressed all the issues from the feedback given last year. Most people pre entered and that made it so much easier this morning. Thankyou everyone for helping make this our best supersprint yet. (Well I'm pretty confident that this was our best)

Not sure why our results arent on the natsoft site yet. They usually go up before the guys leave the circuit. They "should" be available here: http://racing.natsoft.com.au/results/ and then click on circuit racing.

amazeer ·

These are unofficial results http://users.tpg.com.au/berzerk/Chris/clubvw/results.xls

hellbugged ·

Thanx Chris ...'twas a great day!

1303Steve ·

well done Chris and the team, great day and great weather

PAZZAN ·

👍👍

OZ Towdster ·

Holy hell , Paul Zanello must have been peddling hard in J & S buggy to pull a 1.13

OZ Towdster ·

And Mr Berry a 1.21 is very respectable considering your on 135's on the front and no sway bar

Subarugears ·

OZ Towdster wrote:Holy hell , Paul Zanello must have been peddling hard in J & S buggy to pull a 1.13
It was that 5th gear and LSD he now has Andrew....😂

amazeer ·

Results are up on natsoft now. the times as posted are official times but there are quite a few cars in wrong classes. I picked up a couple with my unofficial results but I know I have missed at least one. Will have to have a closer look, probably tomorrow as I am brain dead after all the vw action. Not sure if any of those will affect winners. I hope not.

I forgot to draw the "win your entry fee back as thanks for pre-entering" at the drivers briefing. It has been drawn now, I will announce it after I get in contact with the person.

HappyDaze ·

Organisation.......Tops👍

Weather..............Tops👍

My miss-firing Beetle........Crap👎

Oh well......next year.🙄

sander288 ·

pretty brisk group of cars this year! Congrats on the event👍

PAZZAN ·

no wasn't pushing to hard just need more than 6 laps to get used to it ,heaps of grip and power untill i lost a cylinder 👍

matberry ·

Thanks for a great event to all those behind the scenes. I was happy with the way Bluey went when all's considered. Unfortunately I had reduced track time, kept loosing the fan belt on the straight, 3rd gear pulling to 150km/h 7000rpm was too much for a stock diameter pulley and belt. 🙁
OZ Towdster wrote:And Mr Berry a 1.21 is very respectable considering your on 135's on the front and no sway bar
Thanks Andrew, but I did fit a narrowed stock swaybay before the event. 😉

Lean out ?

amazeer ·

I have made a few changes to my list of results to correct a few class errors. Please have a look to see if I have missed anything. Probably PM me. http://users.tpg.com.au/berzerk/Chris/clubvw/results.xls

Aside from making the running order one long single column list is there anything you want changed for next year?
