Hey vee dubbing community I've been on the scene for 7 odd years now. First as a kombi owner, now I have two project beetles im working on.
About a year ago I sought a new interior for my 66 bug and now i represent the german manufacturing company Meisterberg here in Australia.
We provide full interior re-trim kits for bugs, busses, type 3's, and karmanns. Check out my new website for our great products

Pumba ·

Do you do carpet kits ???

meisterberginteriors ·

Not at the moment but its something i will be looking into along with original black and grey rubber matts for RHD bugs

dragsters for life ·

no type 3 stuff on your page?

meisterberginteriors ·

Im in the process of building the, bus, type 3 and karmen pages.
its a one man show it takes time sorry
if your interested ask me and i can provide costs ect

Bizarre ·

what about later beetles??

1975 + that have the small back seat base??

meisterberginteriors ·

yes i do and its the same cost as all the other years

meisterberginteriors ·

We also do interior kits for the factory convertible beetles 🙂

MR930 ·

Do you do odd colours? My daughter wants pink and white trim in her beetle.

meisterberginteriors ·

we can do a pink vinyl but it isnt as strong/durable as the rest of vinyls we use.

A custom interior has a slightly higher price tag of $685 shipped.
Custom interiors can take up too 8 weeks to arrive as there is a waiting time for the build.

meisterberginteriors ·

if your after a custom colour your best to send me an email with the colour code or a picture and i can see if we can match it with a durable vinyl.
the pink vinyl i was refering too was a hot pink color

My email is justin@meisterberg.com

Id be really interested to see these kits fitted, where are you located?? That's a killer price, as a trimmer working from home, I couldn't supply them for that!

meisterberginteriors ·

Im located in Melbourne CBD i dont have any fitted here but there are a couple of members now floating around that have them fitted up ill contact them and see if we can work something out

meisterberginteriors ·

looking for seat covers, door cards for a 71 notch in tan

meisterberginteriors ·

this is the current selection we offer:

VW Type 3:
Fronts Seat Upholstery, All Type Yr.1970-1972
Rear Only Seat Upholstery Squareback Yr.1968-1974
Front Door Panel All models Yr.1961-1974
Rear Quarter Panel Squareback Yr.1968-1974
Rear Well Panels Squareback Yr.1961-1974

i have sent an email off to germany to ask for an expansion of the type 3 product, and i will start looking for a notchback and fastback interiors to reverse engineer and send to them if they agree.

Im still working out the exact cost for a complete interior for a Type 3 but it will be in the vicinity of a custom interior for a bug so aprox $685 for a complete kit shipped

Nickster ·

I need to see the video too as this seems too good to be true! I like the looks of it but need some consumer confidence!!

meisterberginteriors ·

im on it mate im waiting for a previous customer to upload one for me ill let you know when that happens

meisterberginteriors ·

i have a picture of a rear seat base for a 66 that i fitted and some pictures of the covers that not been fitted it shows the quality and stitching etc.
can someone tell me how to upload an image?

meisterberginteriors ·

this has been fitted straight out of the box so it still has the fold lines on it.

we use the old mounting points and has a string to tension it similar to the originals that used wire.

65busser ·

Where is it all manufactured Justin?

hrastovica ·

U've just convinced me to do my interior next on my 1960 beetle. Any chance i could swing past to have a look at the material (i'm in melbourne also).

One more thing, im planning to install Porsche 356 seats up front, is the fabric for the vw and the 356 the same, and can i mix and match (lets say front 356 seats, door cards/rear seat vw?).

Nickster ·

Are the side panels cut out for winder and door pull? I see the card appears to be, but not the material cover?
Are these the kits manufactured in Germany?

meisterberginteriors ·

Hey Bus and Bug,

The interior patterns are reverse engineered in Germany from original seats and trims, the patterns are then sent to Vietnam where they are Tailor made.

Vietnam is ideal manufacturing base, with a rich history in tailoring dating back hundreds of years and to this day is an icon in Asia for its Low Cost, High Quality Tailor made Products.

So in short, German Engineering and Quality Control, Vietnamese Tailor made.

meisterberginteriors ·

hey Nickster,

the masonite cards do come pre cut, the vinyl does not as you observed, this helps protect the product in shipping.
As a result, if you plan to fit them yourself you will need to make a cut in the vinyl to fit the handles.
I plan to make an instructional video in the coming weeks to showcase the product and help DIYers if you choose to fit the covers and cards yourself.
this DIY video will be on the website for anyone to watch.

hey Bug and Bus,

Meisterberg is not at all affiliated with Harrington Group,
Meisterberg GmbH who i am the australian reseller for, has set up there own manufacturing base in Vietnam for the reasons i outlined earlier.

Meisterberg offer a different product range to Harrington, use different materials and different stitching methods.

no comparison can be drawn between the two companies.

here are a few email extracts i have recieved form Chris the founder of Meisterberg GmbH illistrating there passion for quality.

"My name is Chris and I set up the company a few years ago. At that time I was doing a restoration on my Porsche 356 and was shocked by the high prices upholsters offered for interiors. I also have lots of friends who are true Beetle enthusiasts. Even though there are some companies out there who sell relative economically priced VW interiors such as TMI - but I was not really impressed by their quality. So I was doing some research and teamed up with a professional upholstery who is doing hand made interiors, custom made for a decent price and decided at that time to set up the company. This was back in 2007. Since then we were able to supply thousands of interiors to other classic car enthusiasts for a very decent price. We are a small company and most important to us is not to maximize our profits but do supply our fellow classic car enthusiasts with good quality interiors.

In regards to originality of our interiors -we use original seat covers as templates so the cut is exactly the same as in the original VW interiors. The material however is slightly different. So if you want to restore your beetle to the 100% original look our interiors are not the first choice but for customization they certainly are."

"I can assure you that we are not a reseller of Harrington Group interiors and we manufacture or own interiors. Harrington's core business is that of bumpers for classic cars. The interiors are just a complementary item forthem.

Meisterberg interiors are our core competence and you have seen our interiors and the level of quality they are produced of.

I hope this answers your question. Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us."

Thanks for the opportunity to clear this up, im sure my customers will be happy to know the history of Meisterberg and learn a little about their Product and its History.

Has anyone used any of these products yet?
Any pics or impressions of quality!
Thanks

Performance Upholstery ·

I fitted a kit for nick long (Nickster) on here... They fit quite well and I was very happy with the quality for the price. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get in contact with justin at Meisterberg since before Christmas... Pretty sure he's given up selling them. If anyone does get onto him please get him to contact me... Just tell him to call mick in brisbane, he'll know.

hrastovica ·

Nooooo 🙁 Really? Is this true??

Performance Upholstery ·

Well I called. Left messages, sent texts, emailed all over about 3 months then gave up and ordered tmi for my customer... It's a shame really, it was a really good product for the price.

meisterberginteriors ·

Hey everyone sorry I disappeared. i have been in New Zealand looking for a job in engineering. i finished my degree in civil eng last November and ive shut up shop to job hunt. I will not be resuming Meisterberg Australia now that im back i am still on a job hunt and its grueling. Mick ill be in touch when i need to order upholstery and carpets for my projects. sorry to let you down.

thanks everyone for the support
justin

Performance Upholstery ·

Justin, can you call me? I'd like to talk to you about Meisterberg.

hrastovica ·

Damn, I was hoping to move ahead with those Porsche seats you measured up for me way back when... can i still get them from Meisterberg directly?

meisterberginteriors ·

yep using a mail forwarding company and purchasing through there website it is possible however you will find it more costly. i would go through volkstrim hes a local melbourne guy who started his own trimming company. hes great im going to use him when i start my resto on my 9 seater 72 low light.

ACT65Deluxe ·

Tried the link and it doesn't appear to be working. It goes to a web design page. Any news on the rubber flooring for RHD beetles?

beetle1969 ·

Bringing up an old post here.

So did anyone find a source to replace the original rubber flooring for right hand drive ???.

viiking ·

I've been searching for years. Nothing out there.

Only solution seems to get carpet which is available from budget to expensive. Looks a lot better and I believe WAS an option for overseas models, but not in Aus.

Maybe only Aus had the rubber flooring , thought there would have been plenty for righthand in England but maybe they only had carpet option being cooler climate.

hulbyw ·

My German built '68 came with rubber flooring, Carpeted kick panels and rear luggage area.

bushed ·

link does not work for me Meister!
