You can tell its never been on the road when it still has the heaterchannel drain rubbers.

Sadly you can't register bugs like that in aus unless you pull a shonky.

One of the local VW guys here in our club has a nice collection including a 2000-ish mexibug that has under 200kms on the clock since new for the same reason.

Why not? Would be the same as any 70s bug for safety wouldn't it? Or is it because it's later model lhd?

Can go straight on to club rego without a problem.

That is the problem.

An 1987 bug would have to meet 1987 ADRs which they don't.

Same as Ross's 2001 Mexi Beetle, it doesnt have air bags, crumple zones etc

Not that anybody would - but if you happen to have an oxy set, and you happen to have an old beetle.
And then you just happened to cut the old VIN number out............................🙅

👍 Not that anybody would... but would solve the issue 😂 The newer old bug wouldn't be any more dangerous than its predacessors

Most clubs require a current Roadworthy Certificate before they will approve a Club Permit application.
