Yeh they have to go.all the baja stuff is off now.early bonnet is on just need some early gaurds and a few other bits and pieces to get it to look like a beetle again.need some stock 15 inch bug rims and some tyres to roll it on..

Yeh the person I got the car off dropped the rear heaps..the front wont get done till im finished everything else..
il probably raise the rear just to work on the car then air bag it hopefully...

I got the 36hp motor going today after sorting out the fuel tap leaking..next is the brakes..

couldnt leave it as a baja damn....
and yeh it runs one bag off to the passenger side.and a different way the tie rods run from the steering box to the spindles..will post up as I go..

Also I got some panel beating hammers and dollys.i got the rear end clip welded in I just have to dit the early rear apron.and I got a nos l/h 1/4 panel to replace my crappy one.getting their slowly..

Have you spoken to an engineer about getting the suspension complianced?
I would be really surprised if the Jer-Fab air beam could be made legal in Australia. It looks like it is made from steel plate welded to an original trailing arm, which is generally a big no-no for engineering compliance.

just finished putting in a front quarter for my oval.
that quarter panel doesn't look like a pre 60 one. will it pose a problem for the fuel tank?

I got the 1/4 panel off the very nice man that posted under you.
luftmeister..he saved my ass with that panel.
and il make it work and look as it should when I fit it...
can use the fuel tank surround off my early one if need be..

Beam is in and is well under 1/2 inch off the ground maybe abit less.
and the cross over steering set up...

Iv just been working on the rear end moving the tin up for the tranny raise im going to do fixing any rust on the rear cut I put it plus any repaires I need to do on the early rear apron.i have to go through and finish each part at a time rather than do bits here and there.so im going to do the rear and then move to the front of the car..more pics up soon..

Narrowed beams and airbags are not my cup of tea true enough, but I can see what people are trying to do with them. However, the construction of that crossover setup makes me really nervous. The way the driver's tie rod end goes straight through your main tie rod without any bracing... I reckon it's asking for trouble at some stage. I'd be doing some designs and talking to a few mates about how you might brace it a little. 😉

The tie rod arm is solid where the tie rod goes through .
and yeh head light hits on full drop iam doin a pan head shorten of a inch which will solve the problem tho...

Notched the spring plates out today to get the car lower in the rear to see how it should sit when bagged.also put my side trim on and aussie flash trim aswell with sticky tape.jus so I could see it looking more like a car for a couple days before I get back into the body work..

As was suggested on page 1 I got on to Vinko at Vicsbahn and now have a quarter from a 58 which I will have to mod a bit to fit my 63.

Been plugin away on this slowly.
have pulled the front left 1/4 panel off to replace it and repaire behind it also doing the a pillar and the r/h front 1/4 panel where tje a pillar meets the 1/4.
re did the trans raise higher too.
My oil bath air cleaner wouldnt fit so I used a kombi one to keep the og weathered look.

Yeh ok mate.havnt done much lately as im waiting on a complete front cut for it.its gettin posted up tomorrow so once I get that il finish the front end and move onto afew smaller bits then take the body off the pan to do the floor raise and pan head shorten.then sand it all back to the og grey and colour match the repaires.gettin their slowly.

Not to much to up date.have been in and out of court trying to keep my 3 kids i have full time and their mother is trying to get em back.
Iv tacked the early complete front clip in alot of lining it up properly with gaurds bonnet and tank in.also picked up another 36er.guy said it had a rebuild and never fitted.pulled a head off and damn this thing os clean inside..yayyy.

I've a 59 shell on a 63 pan that was in surprisingly good condition metal wise but my 56 Oval needed more work than your 58. I do love the semaphore bugs though 🙂
On your engine I think ye may need new barrels as the right hand one seems to have some pitting where oil and water have sat and had a little party. Shame if the pistons are in good nick 🙁

😂 Yup, I've left bit's on the interior undressed cos with underlay etc ontop it really don't matter plus keeps strength in the weld. Yea, that's what I tell myself 🙂
