is there any chance that club vw can organise a photographer for the event, this event seem sot go unnoticed year after year, with only the entrants knowing that it actually happened. I don't think it even makes it into the VWMA?

CT is all grown up now, he has a small child as well as a new born so it's hard for him to find time to work on his beetle let alone race it. We have planned for this nationals for him to race, but in saying that we planned that last year as well.vw54 wrote:Jack

There is a reason for no VWMA pics at least for last year. I didn't give the photographer an official bit of paper . Something was said over the officials radio that SMSP listen in on so they found out and made the stewards boot the guy who had done nothing wrong as far as he knew.

No, there was still coverage. 3 pages with a report and most driver/car combinations mentioned. Ben managed to do some great work from limited vantage points. Pages 80-82 Issue#47 article title 'Supersprint'. Jak even has his car featured!

Whilst I had a fantastic time Dave when I first went to Warwick, it is an incredibly long drive to race for 8 seconds.
I would prefer to drive South to Phillip Island & do a track day there which CT & I have been planning for some time now

- We're regretfully not taking entries from open wheel race cars this year. While it would have been preferable to get a full group of F-Vees, we have given up trying. The requirement to run formula cars in a seperate group has never been an efficient use of track time.
- The remaining groups will have more cars to try to reduce the total number of groups. Less groups with a higher density = more track time.
- We're going to start earlier. This will require action on the part of competitors. Sign on will start at 7am. We wont be taking club memberships and licences on the day. Make sure yours will be current on May 21. You cant run without them.
- Pre event scrutineering will be available on the weekend prior to the event at Vintage VW Supplies Campsie. More details available on request.

Thanks for thinking of me Dave. Your ESP is working because I have been tinkering away late at night to get the oval back on the road.
In fact I fired it up today after tearing it down to replace the gaskets and seals.
It's going to earn it's keep as a daily for a few months.
Some gentle laps may be in order if it behaves itself over the next few weeks.

Pre event scrutineering will be held at Vintage Vee Dubb on Saturday morning the 14th May for paid up entrants from 8.00am till 11am great way to get more track time by not being held up on the day,the more we can check on Saturday before event the less rush on race day as some officials are running as well. Boris will provide a sausage sizzle as well so please SMS me Rudi on 0418442953 and book your car in to have your car checked, easier to fix any issues a week before rather than miss out on track time on race day. All welcome so come down and have a chat get some tips on car prep and have a snag.Dont forget you will need your current cams affiliated, club card ,licence L2s and your paid entry receipt , entrys can be made on line on Club vee dub web site but hurry,see you there Rudi

thanks Graham had James in today helping and made good progress today but still need to increase the front spacers as the tyres are hitting the uprights on hard lock...

Didn't appear to be many there yesterday, to take advantage of an opportunity to speed things up next Saturday. It was worth the trip to find out I need TWO towing eyes for Saturday!
I just hope there are no hold-ups, due to long queues at sign-in and scrutineering...don't whinge if you miss out on a run.

A supersprint does not run/organise itself. Chris not only did a great job, he managed to punt the Polo around as well. Even the weather was ideal.

Gave it a little tickle. 8 supersprints and i finally had a go. Awesome fun. I predicted 75 seconds.
First run I did was 79. I was disappointed with that. Figured that my worst corner was the left hander down into the bowl. I kept going in too fast, too much understeer which put me on the wrong side of the track for the right hander and also robbed me of speed to get up the hill.
So on my second run I focused on nailing that corner. I didn't nail it every time but was a lot better. And I started braking later and harder. Got down to 77 seconds.
Third run I turned off the A/C and stability control. Massive transformation. I took it easy for the first couple of laps but it was heaps quicker. I was pulling 3rd much earlier. I think my last lap would have been the quickest but unfortunately it was the cool down lap. I had missed the chequered flag. The only thing that slowed me down was the queue of cars going into the pits. Finished on 75. 🙂 pretty good for 1.2 litres.
I wish I wasn't too lazy to put the camera in the car. The goodride tyres were squealing like crazy. They look a little distressed today. Especially the left rear. I checked pressures today. It was only 23. The others were 26, 27 and 29. Feeling pretty silly now. Probably another second or two there. Maybe I'll get a tyre sponsor and some R specs for next year. And a pressure guage.

great job to Chris, Norm, Rudy, Brian, Norm and all the others that helped on the day. It was well run and being my first EC sprint it was a great day for me after the stress of getting the brakes and suspension upgrade done and then driving down from Brisbane, couldn't have asked for a better day! thanks guys. Next year I'll have some proper tyres on it as well!!!

Pretty much everyone. Those driving had a blast and got to legally push their cars hard, and us watching had a great time watching fast VWs, talking to other VW people, and getting a chance to have a close up look at the cars in the pits.

Graham great to see you have so much fun in the Mark 1 I didn't get a chance to talk to Craig to see if hes going to sell the F vee the Mark 1 may have change this ideas on racing
