OK so the oil change gaskets have started to leak a bit ????

flatten the sump plate panel beat it around the stud holes

pv370 ·

yeah tried that.... was fine for a couple of months and now a very small drip

thought silicone gaskets would be a set and forget option
can boris get them ?????

vw54 ·

no check the plate again and make sure the area around the holes is flat

go to super cheap and get a tube of sticoflex great for all oil leaks but clean and pre sol surfaces before applying

are you using the copper washer and acorn nuts

pv370 ·

yeah using acorn nuts and new copper washers........
sound like a project for next weekend....thanks

You can get a very high quality Billet aluminium plate and continue to use the paper gaskets with no adhesive. works for me. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SCAT-BILLET-OIL-SUMP-PLATE-KIT-VW-BUGGY-OFFROAD-BUG-BUS-GHIA-50127-6-/151474023134?hash=item23448e2ade:g:dZcAAOxyDoZSLk86#ht_99wt_1362

Just remember the correct torque for the 6mm studs at 7NM
