Here's my 1970 Antarctica (911) White Beetle 1500. Owned by an unknown owner from 1970-1972, then one lady who was a midwife in NSW and is the car's original namesake "Mary". Her granddaughter is best friends with the previous owner's wife and she helped deliver his kids. When she passed he acquired the car in 2015 and rebuilt her. Heads expanded to 1600, rust cut out and repaired, re-painted, disc brakes added. He was downsizing and I was recently downsized so I returned my Origin ev360 (sad to see it go but too much money) and bought this car for many reasons. Primarily my whole family has been VW, Volvo, and Saab owners for years. My mom had a 1962 blue Beetle and my dad a blue 1964 Beetle when they attended Washington University in St. Louis MO. My dad owned one of the first 5 Porsche 914's imported into St. Louis. He then owned a yellow squareback and my mom a 1978 Rabbit (Golf). The history and also riding in friend's parents bugs and busses is helping me reconnect with my past and my mom who sadly passed in 2021. I plan to have photos of history including mom's bug posted here but for now this is Mary.
