VWCV Drag Night
VWCV Drag Night. We have organised a Drag Night in conjunction with the "Legal Off Street Friday Night Drag Racing";at Calder Park (Melway Map 3 A4). Entry Fee will be
$45 to $55 for Competitors and $10 to $17 for Spectators, depending on the number of people that turn up. Also if we get enough competitors, we will be able to drag race amongst ourselves, not against non-VWs; and Calder Park will supply the trophy. As a result I need people to contact me if you are going so I can book us in. We will meet at the Brimbank Park (Lookout Car Park), off Keilor Park Drive, Keilor East (Melway
15B9), by 5pm, so we can leave, en mass, from there. Gates open at 5pm, racing starts at 6pm, your car will be safety checked, and you will need a helmet, long sleeves, long pants and sturdy footware.

We have some sort of pirate thing happening tomorrow at work (the CEO sent an email) Apparently it's not just us I hope cos we have to talk like pirates e.g. 'I be me hearty......Arrrrrgh' etc. Should be interesting when I pick up the phone to greet people😀

Well it was very cold but not as bad as last time.
Herbie, Michael and Donald/Darth dragged in their Beetles; James had his 2 litre fastie, and Andrew in his 15 sec car
Also an Audi sports convertable
Jay, splittychick/Mandie, Steve, Cheryl, Andrew E, Stewy and Matt were all there to enjoy the night and cheers the Vee Dubbers on 😎
No were near as many cars dragging tonight, possibly only a 1/4 of last time we went🙁 But I guess for those that went it meant more runs for them:thumb
Maybe the rain and wind put people off going? I stayed dry for the event though, and the wind dropped so it warmed up a little
A lot of oil was being dropped so a few delays
I'll leave it up to the guys to report in with the tech side cos I knew what they were talking about but how to put it down here is beyond me🙂

Well Ill Give ya one guess, whats worth more than anything on the Gold Coast, LAND, bloody developers, and winging residents (philistine's) what they fail to forget is they got their land cheap because it was near a DRAG STRIP, when they move in, they start trying to get rid of it because it lowers their property value's, bit like tose who move near an airport and then complain about the noise! why move there in the first place! like I said before who was there first!

My fastest time last night was 14.741 🙂
The others were 14.989, 15.056
My slowest time was when I went Spastic sideways off the line. 16.439 :cry
Calder was built around 20 years ago in the middle of nowhere, now Melbourne has started to spread out and reach Calder. The people building houses around that area are also complaining about the noise. It has been rumored that Calder will also be shut down.

The khanacross sounds cool unfortunately i've gotta work.....i was surprised at how much fun the drags were coz i thought it would be a bit to meatheadish(is that a word!!) for me,but we were surrounded by a bunch of great people & some cool veedubs so you can't really go wrong!!😎😀

I've never been to one, so don't know what I'm missing🙁
The drags are fun.
This year was the first time since going with my high school boy friend who was a bit of a petrol head. We used to go to the speed way and the drags in his mates cars who had licenses. I used to have dreams of dragging the guys off. I still like fast take off's at the lights😀
Remember my parents still waiting up for me to get home LOL

Going to be great tomorrow. Putting Herb through his places and should hopefully do alright as long as I keep it on the red dirt and not the mud. Racing starts at 10am. Best the dog doesn't come as he would have to be tied up all day. So he doesn't run on to the track.

The only Modification it's had since the Show room is Headlight and Bonnet protectors.

You're right, Flying, I haven't seen any such proof. And I must correct my earlier statement. The run I was thinking of you won by 0.02sec. My most humble apologies. Personally, I think it's a bloody miracle that a type 3, even a modified one, gets within cooee of an XR8. I was a little excited and got carried away.:thumb
