typ-fre ·

ive got the pics of diffrent rims that i want for the car so please help me choose

Volkspower ·

Personally,
I like BRM's but colour coded stockies look cool too. Are you planning on having it finished for when you get your license? pretty cool first car if you are.

sikdub ·

Hey Dom, welcome to the forum. I personally would have to say the empi 5's. I have a set and reckon they're great. :thumb
Steven

typ-fre ·

thanks its a hard choice beacuse i like them both i wanna try and buy both but we all know a 15 yr old cant afford that

Unity-28 ·

HEy welcome Dom to the world of t3's.

I would go BRM's But not black, the natural finish looks sweet with the outer spokes polished. Or you could go for Radar (sorry about the spelling!) replicas.

N!

typ-fre ·

ohhk what are radar replicas!!

byronbus ·

BRM's :thumb:thumb

Unity-28 ·

these

typ-fre ·

farrr their madd whats the cost but???

ey i was wondering whats the oil drippers club website

byronbus ·

Either way it gunna look good, wish i could afford a set

Adam_C ·

Those Radars look shit hot mate. . . . theyd go well on that notch

typ-fre ·

ey byronbus what veedub have u got??

TheGermanFolks ·

those wheels are made by www.randarwheels.com. They cost about $1000 USD a set. And the fully chromed ones are $1200 USD. Nice wheels. And Randee, the guy who makes them, is the man.

empi ·

Great to seeu here Dom gimme a call and pop around.

hey Chrissie doesnt this car sound familiar???????

Empi

Go the 5 pokies

Unity-28 ·

NO site yet, We NEED to get one up soon.
Maybe as soon as we get some of the cars out there....

Not sure of the cost though! I think in the states they are around 1000 for a set, but dont know how much they would be here.

N!

typ-fre ·

hey adam whats goin man how you been love ya notch baddd man its the sleekes notch lol

Unity-28 ·

Danm Scott I got a call from a client, I post my reply, and whammm, you already tell the guy the price!!!!
DAmn your quick.

N!

3toes ·

Is this my old notch empi? I should have kept and then i'd have the full set.😀

typ-fre ·

umm my one is a light blue one with some white panels and it has empis old red stockie hubcaps on it

SKEWtYpe3 ·

maybe ol's one?

65square ·

Hey Dom, good to see a youngster getting into the type 3s! I'm a BRM man myself, but be warned! Clearance problems on the rear guards & the wheels are pretty pricey!! They almost set me back the price I paid for my square!!

Unity-28 ·

YOu can get 4.5 inch BRM's That will fix any Clearence problem, or you can use short axles.

N!

65square ·

Yeah, I'll be investigating short axles soon! I've rolled the guards, but still only have about 2mm clearance. So short axles it is!

typ-fre ·

type 3's are the best but i really love the notches its a madd cruzing car i just got my mate interested in getting one

i told him that ive gotta volkswagen and u know the teenage mates "they love jap turbo'd car" nothing wrong with them of course my old man has a skyline!! any way my mate was giving me shit about it and i showed him what my cars going to look like when i fix it and now he loves it, hes looking for one at the moment lol

SKEWtYpe3 ·

they are randars not radars
both copied from the same original type wheel but randars are a bit diff. tot eh riggie didge ones........

i think that the short axles u are after a beetle 1200 ones

good luck to ya and ur project.

typ-fre ·

thanks SKEWtYpe3 its gonna be tough but ill make it look good lol im not really sure what the diffrence is between axel sizes soo buhh!! thanks anyway

BenettonVW ·

Who says you need rims anyway?

Chromed Wide 5's only just beat 17" BRMs with adapter plates..

typ-fre ·

omgis that your car if it is, its like my odol man i love it and i c it on the websites everywhere i love it

[Edited on 25-9-2003 by typ-fre]

BenettonVW ·

typ-fre ·

yeah i saw it in the t3 detectives and i loved it, just a question what color is it

BenettonVW ·

Oh crap.. memory blowout.. Bahamma Blue or something? It's the original colour, original paint.

typ-fre ·

yeah coz it looks like my color but its zenith blue, buhh it looks the same

65square ·

That notch is the goods, eh! Gives you something to aspire to!

typ-fre ·

yeah i scored bigtime i got it for nothing so im very grateful

PHAT BUG ·

For me it would have to be the cromed empi 5s, their just soooooo nice!

typ-fre ·

i dunno its hard to decide!!
rrrrrrrrrr

baybuscamperkid ·

welcome mate. youl find out soon enough that theres a good few of us (around 10 - 15 ta least at last count) who are in the 14 - 18yr old age bracket doing up bugs or busses, u r the 1st doin up a t3 tho i think. good luck! i recon the radars or empis look sweetest.

GASBNR ·

welcome Dom,
Thats not my old notch skew, I sold mine to a young lad near Lilydale, minus the sprints and some of the other gear that was on the car.
The sprints where a very tight fit under the rear but 165's was the best we could do.

typ-fre ·

thanks man i feel comfortable now and im rapped coz im the first person to do a t3 yeah!!!

GASBNR ·

check out Jon Abbotts radars ment to be the best repos of the empi version as oposed to the sears version.

Kafer Lover ·

I like sprintstars, I reckon they are just the bee's knees. Out of the other two, the BRMs.
Here is a shot of our notch with colour coded original wheels:

twoguns ·

hey welcome typ-fre. so the name has a bit of a double meaning. mate godd to see ya have a cool ride. yours will be all oveer that plastic crap ya mates will be drivin. and it'll appreciate in value. i just picked up a '72 recently. came with a set of ronals which when cleaned up should look good.

baybuscamperkid ·

hey 2guns, u gonna paint in sections on those wheels? then they'd look super sweet!

twoguns ·

dont know yet. waitin' to see what i do with everything else. didi think at on stage af making the cross stand out.

sikdub ·

Generally not a huge fan of much post 70 type 3 gear, but that notch is too cool. Maybe its the wheels, maybe its the stance, maybe its the lot. :thumb
Steven

Black_math ·

If you were willing you could get some iron cross mags custom made and imported from teh states for a low $4000
😀😀 ther worth it

typ-fre ·

ey not a fan of the late model t3 but that one looks sikk bro :thumb
