wacked1 ·

How many guys from here went to the last ones.

speedster356 ·

There was only 2 bugs and my replica there last week, but there were a few spectators from here that might bring their cars next time.
I'm pretty sure I can arrange a trophy for something like "best reaction time, VW power", I had a shocker so it won't be me..:thumb

vw54 ·

Great Idea

call it " THECUTALIGHTOFTHENITE "

:beer:beer

Bizarre ·

vw59 ·

Hi Pete,

Count me in, managed to get out of my meeting so I'm there. Found my boost limiting problem. Too much tension on the wastegate actuator. Now got 15psi, just don't look at the duty cycle of the injectors!
I'm ready to run!!

Cheers Leigh

:bounce:bounce

Menangler ·

I would love to come and have a run, Just have to get my clutch changed in time

speedster356 ·

Great Dave, get out in the shed and do it now!😀

Menangler ·

I would if I had the clutch:thumb

vw59 ·

Hope you make it Dave, would be great to see your new car make a pass.

Pete can't remember what my car weights. I'll have to put it on the weigh bridge here at work. Until then I'll be fiddling with the wastegate to get it setup correctly.

Leigh:bounce:bounce

Kai.A. ·

speedster356 ·

That's a pity Kai.A.
Sure can just come along and watch bugboymatt.

All us spectators should meet at the raceway, good time to catch up, and cheer on the mighty VW's.

kai

Menangler ·

The clutch is in:thumb
Every one still going?
what time do you need to be there? I have to come up from Nowra so I will leave in the morning.

speedster356 ·

I'll be there about 4ish I think. Last time I arrived at 3 and had to line up at the gate to get registered.
Arrive at the competitors gate, park ur car, grab ur rego papers and licence and line up at the "demountable hut" where u get registered. Then you drive into the pit area for scrutineering. Once thru scrutineering just line up again for ur runs.
We got 4 last time so not bad for $45.

vw54 ·

I will B watching

Peter Leonard ·

I too will be present 😀
barring floods etc.. was so much fun the other week :thumb look out for the snot green dub parked on the other side of the road in the dirt pile area...
whatever it is. would love to have a drag, but I've deveoped 6 thou of end float from forty million miles of hard driving. also about to do a rebuild, and it would be a shame to screw it up now 😀
decided the best spot was near the start line, below the kebab sellers. more noise, more smoke, more speed... although i spent a while on the grandstand, and over near the rails... all good 😀

Menangler ·

I forgot to ask, but is it cool to run a stinger?

Peter Leonard ·

very 😀
but if you're worried about the sound levels, don't be. although the dubs were amongst the louder draggers, there were louder ones than stingered dubs. don't quote me. call the buggers if you're worried, but I'd just do it.
see ye there :thumb

vw54 ·

Beck

I am pretty sure they have the 95db limit.... fit it up and have a run then see if they PING you .... U can always fit the old muffler back on

speedster356 ·

Chris ran a stinger last time, no problem, he was asked to put his engine cover back on though.:thumb

Craig Torrens ·

Best of luck to all :thumb

Leigh, 12's will be real nice 😀😀

Hope you cause a riot 😉

vw54 ·

Hey BECK hows that seal going mate... BUGGAR back to the drawing board

speedster356 ·

Dave did a 13.3 but had an oil down problem, Leigh was mid 13 once he found the intercooler hose that had poped off, and I did the same old 15.6......

speedster356 ·

from last time.

Menangler ·

What a top launch photo Pete.

Cheap aftermarket oil filters,🙁

I left fairly quick after the 2nd filter came loose, before I got drawn and quartered by a couple of fully sick rotors mate. not a good night.

Menangler ·

the dudes

vw54 ·

Fully Sick Mate.... yep i left as you were pulling up on the right hand side of the track and dripping oil... didnt want to wait another 3/4 hours

jakriz ·

Holy crap Dave, 13.3, thats supercar territory, what are the specs of your engine if u don't mind telling us?
regards
Jak

PS I hope the loud pedal hasn't got stuck again!

Craig Torrens ·

Any terminal speed figures ????

Craig Torrens ·

Dave, does your engine run 94mm piston and Barrels by any chance 😀😀

[Edited on 10-10-2003 by Craig Torrens]

fullnoise ·

Well done Dave. You've certainly done the California Look proud.

I'd love to see that little sleeper of yours doing those times. Next time I'll bring my video camera. Hopefully it'll pick up the sound of the other spectators comments. Should be good for a laugh.

Were you operating the throttle with your foot or your hand this time??

CYA, CT:thumb:thumb:thumb

Menangler ·

94's, of cause:o

Hey CT, all you would have heard on wednesday night would have been the spectators cursing!! after oiling the track twice, not popular.

Peter Leonard ·

so everything's okay with your dub, dave?
me and girly were kinda worried when you pulled over after caning the guy you were racing for the first 150 feet. then more worried as the buckets of oil absorber stuff ran out and more were fetched... and more worried when after half an hour and three machines had worked on it it was still oily. people were a little peeved...
bittersweet night.. leigh obliterated a commodore much to the compere's and the spectators' delight. as per usual the dubs drew special interest.

to cap it off (after the dragging was extended to 10:30 thanks almost entirely to the exxon-like proportions of dave's oildripper) i went to go home and got a red light light coming round the roundabout at the gate, so went to fill up at the shell just before the motorway. i was joined by a bunch of kids in a laser, who asked me if that was me with the oil on the track. dave's beige. miine snot green. "no." foooled by the filling of oil at the servo, the kids wandered off after telling me that the dubs were 'fully sick'.
again a fun night. dave's beetle confused the race callers with the viagra thing. never seen a stinger before i guess.
dubs kicked some ass again, and that's what we want to see. 😀

Menangler ·

Yep, everything is fine, just finished cleaning it up and putting on a new oil filter.

Must have been hard to clean the track, cause it was hard just to get it off the car!

The old one had a crook thread and it came loose at high revs, the rubber seal wasn't held in very well by the filter either, I won't run an after market filter again!

vw54 ·

Those 94s are great

Craig Torrens ·

94's, the winners choice 😀

MKI4EVA ·

wow .....thats so serious effort guys......good stuff......

omg the porsche look'n thing does 15's.........holly crap.......:thumb
