Boozer 路
Cool man! It's good being able to see it instead of just being told about it. Looks like you've got a lot of work ahead of ya though you also have a fair bit of time. Do a good job and make it look sick!馃榾:thumb
Black_math 路
Oh yeah we were playing with the semaphores...hehehe馃榾:P馃榾馃榾:thumb
Boozer 路

Black_math 路

All the best with the resto. I have a 57 in similar condition which I hope to start early next year. Keep posting pics as you do the work.:thumb
Robo 路
Cool man
It looks pretty straight! bugger all rust, looks like youve found your self a great base for a resto! all power to ya! hope to see it finished one day!
Think of all the beers after a hard day spent on the old girl! no better thearapy than restoring an old girl like that!
Rob.....
Doug Sweetman 路
Looks like a bloody good place to start. Far less rust in that than there was in my 73, or my 67, ..... or coincidentally, my 57 馃檪
I always seem to pick rusty ones to start with 馃檪
One little point - its not a 59. Ovals were made up till 57, and the first big rear window beetle was released in 57 - still had semaphores and oval style door handles, but new dash, and window and bunch of other changes.
So - yours is at the latest a mid 57. You should find the chassis number and post it on the forum - one of these guys will be able to date your car for you.
But at any rate - enjoy the resto 馃檪
Black_math 路
WoooHooo a 57' and there is olny surface rust!, but yey a 57 馃榾
Boozer 路
I was wondering about that earlier...
Black_math 路
Hehehe 57' yey and boozer are you gona buy one of those r/c cars? ther 30$ and at toys r' us garden city. thnx fpr tell me that u guys馃榾
Boozer 路
yeah i think i will but it would be better if they had VW one's.
I was wondering about the 59 year bit too. Thought it musta had the oval window welded in some time.
Good score Black Math
Black_math 路
Nah when i was looking at it there was no appearance of welding and the window came stock and my uncle just gave it to me and he woulda told me if he had so he just musta got the year worng馃檪
Black_math 路
Id like to have it like a kamanndeurwagen
Boozer 路
Hey Black Math I hope you can get yours to look that good. Are you gonna paint it grey or if not what other colour?
Adam_C 路
DONT PAINT IT !!!!..... fix up the structural rust if any slam it on some BRMS with a rack and be done with it !!!
Black_math 路
Oh of course were gona fix up the rust and replance anything that is to rusted out, then im goiung to paint it, matt black but it will lok like a comander wagon once its finished 馃榾
Boozer 路
actually yeah! Do what Adam_C said and make it into a rat! that would be soooo cool!馃槑
Black_math 路
Hell no, its my kommander wagon and nobody else's its gonna be show quality as well馃榾馃榾
Boozer 路
wahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!:cry
Black_math 路

Boozer 路

Black_math 路
Yeah having it clean is cool! yours is still full of sand from straddie last year!
vwguru 路
man that oval is in good nick. mine used to look like that, oh memories. it has taken me 6 months to get where i am. just make sure you do a good job, while its all taken apart do it properly. good luck with it.
Black_math 路
I got 2 years before i can drive so im(were also my dad) are going to do a real good job on it and make it show quality馃榾 i cant wait!
Cam 路
That is in good nick dude. You must live in a dry climate.
They had millitary beetles up until 1960 I think?!?! I have an article in a magazine about a 1958 model. You should do it millitary style and slam it 馃槑
Black_math 路
Im gonna have it as close to the original detal as a commander wagon as i possibly can here are some other ones which will soon be posted below, but as close to a commanser wagon as possibel means military style馃槑offroad military style馃槑with a 2 ltr engine馃槑 oh yeah thats cool馃槑
Black_math 路
Military style馃槑 heres an afrika corps style one馃槑
Black_math 路
But im gonna try and keep it like the gray one up the top but have it matt black馃榾馃槑馃榾馃榾馃槑馃榾:thumb
Boozer 路
try and get the same tires as that grey one. that would be sooo cool
Black_math 路
Yeah theyd Be cool for offroad but onroad theyd be loud as hell馃檨 i cant see a problem with taht馃榾:P
Boozer 路
me neither it's not like beetle's are known for being quiet and anyway just get a louder stereo and bigger speakers...馃榾
Black_math 路
Im goimng to keep teh engine as quiet as possible so pple underestimate it, but lots of "air" speakers which at olny 3" produce more sound than both of you 6" boozer
