does the car have to be street registered to get on the dunes? or is it like private property?

yes apparently you have to have a permit style rego for the beach or a rego'd buggy to legally drive on the beach.

and sorry lardo, the white man was down 0 from 2. maybe you will have to take the reigns next time. he even asked me to take it easier the second time.😀😉😀

I asked myself the same question when i saw it so i got out my trusty "explore australia" touring companion and discovered that it is in Newcastle NSW.
Hope that helps, now you will be like me and getting ready for the next one!!!

If you have a registered car then you pay $5 for a weekend permit or $12.50 for a 6 month permit.
If unregistered you have to go to the RTA and get a recreational vehicle permit and then pay the same for the permit at stockton. Have no idea what is involved and what it costs for the recreational permit from the RTA.
