OK , Mantara started with a tip from his Mum (Bless!) and I added the spray the silicon oil (tyre shine or black plastic stuff) on before you wash your car so it penetrates before the water does (dont want any H2O in these NoH2O ve-hicles)

add your 'top tip' to aid your Aussie VeeDubber buddies in keeping on keeping on

Kool Karma to you

don't use force, use a longer spanner, or a bigger hammer!!

baybuscamperkid ·

longer spanner not a good idea - tried to remove my wheel nuts that way. added 1m pipe to the end of my spanner. snapped the spanner, snapped 2 extenders for my adjustable wrench, then the wrench itself.

buy the best, or the cheapest until you can afford the best. then bury the cheapest ones in a lead lined chest in your neighbour's garden. actually keep the weird ring/open ended spanners, sometimes they have just the right angle in the head to get you out of tight spots. 😀
and CHANGE YOUR OIL 😉

Craig Torrens ·

always wear a condom 😉

or ten to keep your fingernails clean.

For mechanical novices like me, anything I pull apart I place in order on a bench (or similar) at least 2 metres away from where I'm working in the order I disassemble it in. Makes it easier for simpletons like me to put back together. Also if it's any closer to where I'm working invariably I will knock it over, step on it or spill something on it!!

If you are restoring a car and the missus is a little jelouse of the money you spend, get a stash happening. I have a sealed money box (can) I have hidden in the shed, I put loose gold coins in this, between swap meets. The night before a swap I get the can opener, and a minute later, instant wealth.
When I get home and she hits me with the old, "how much did you spend" I can say, "only a couple of bucks" and she is none the wiser, and if she checks the bank account, theres buggar all gone.

Excellent idea! I go one better - separate bank accounts!

As for the practical stuff - get a small gas blow torch and heat your wheel nuts. Then when hot, apply a bit of wd40 or similar to the thread. Do this a few times and you will be able to undo them. Still hard but at least they come undone!

After the war my Mum used to use the boiled potato starch to iron shirts with. Thank goodness for fabulon now.

If someone needs your help, give it
