I got the barndoor westafalia near his house. Still in a giant, powdered-kombi-condom as delivered from the factory. The old guy let me have it since it was going to a good home. Anyone have any EMPI sprintstars they don't want anymore? I'll take care of them... honest! I also need some 2nd hand 135's since the crossplies are screwing the inner arches, now I've removed some leaves from the front end.

ye-up! My mate was looking for a cool dash for his hot rod. I had one out of a split, aaaaages ago but chucked in when we moved, but always kept the idea in mind. And after Skewy got the front panel there was no use for the rest of it (cut into the a pillars to keep plenty of meat around the spot welds), so we nicked the dash. I heard an XB panel van has gotten the rear guards too.

Ive put together an excellent green house for my tomato plants made from a 23 window sunroof deluxe, a hebmuller and the arse end of a morris minor ... bit of a shame to cut up the morris though.

I just find it funny how some people get so worked up about people buying cars before them. And its ALWAYS a case of someone rocking up and paying the asking price. I had that when I purchased a car several years ago. It was worth way more than what the guy was asking, yet some other guys (who are now on here, ironically) had been tire kicking it for something like 18 months. A few people backed up the guys story and I could'nt believe it. They were trying to take it off his hands when all he wanted was a matter of a few hundred dollars. I bought it in a day. The guy even got his casual staff out on his time to help my Dad load the car and parts up. And oh boy did the shit hit the fan after that. But I still don't care. I bought it from a buisness that had had it there for years and was'nt too scared to remove the butt plug and pay for what I was getting.
Dog's may be able to lick their own nose. But I did'nt have to house break my cat 😎

yeah, I've noticed that. A friend of mine said the market over there is pretty much flooded atm.
I don't really care who gets them or where they get them from to be perfectly honest. I care first and foremost about the vehicles being restored and cared for, PROPERLY!!! And the lengths I've seen you guys goto to get virtually any VW to A1 nick is simply breathtaking sometimes. My hat is off to ya!
I can only feel upset about VW's leaving our country in one way, and that was driven home by someone at a VW club meeting who got all nostalgic over a B&W photo of the first Aussie produced bus outside the VW factory here in Melbourne. That made me upset and sad to see them go. Not the fact that I can no longer walk down the street and get one for a slab. And besides, how many people who got cars like this were scrapping them left right and centre? And for the most insignificant parts too. A classic example is how many ragtop roof sections are floating around Aus'. And most of these cars were scrapped through A pillars being gone or minor accident damage. It's one thing keeping the roof section, but what about having a ragtop with full matching I.D.?

eyah its true if there is the slightest possability that a split van can be saved then we will spend what it takes to get it back on the raod and running again.
its a shame that some of you seem to just scrap splits so easily. but its only yourselves that you are depriving because in yrs to come you wont have many splits left and then like us you wll do anything to get them running again.
never scrap a vw no matter how bad you think it is, to somebody its a project waiting to be started.

Like many people on this forum, I've scrapped a couple of VWs. I tried selling them and even giving them away, and ended up giving away quite a few bits and pieces to people who weren't interested in taking the whole car.
My point is, sometimes it isn't up to the owner, it depends on the market. If its a choice between parting it out, or having the whole car end up at the tip, I'll part it out.

Just using my time wisely, i think ive come up with a plan to reduce our current account deficit. I reckon you could fit 21 splits and 7 mini coopers into 1 shipping container. My wharfy mate Dave recons all you need to do is squash em really flat which he will do for a nominal fee. A few years ago I'd half organised to get a '48 Dodge for my old man. I left it until I had another reason to head into that town. When I finally got back up there (a couple of weeks shy of his b'day) it was gone.
Then not too long ago, I'm looking at photos a mate is showing me of his car and in the background is this Dodge.
I don't hold anything against him, I should've gotten my act into gear sooner about the car.
