Being only new to the VW scene again (after a four or five year break) we are wanting to find out if Dubs by the Pub will be on this year.
We picked up a flyer about it last year and we thought it was on on 8th February but we haven't seen anything on this website or anywhere else.
Can anyone help?

Dubs by the pub is on the 8th February which is a Sunday. it starts at boondall entertainment center at 7am to sign on and the cruise leaves at 8.30am sharp. Its $10 to enter your car in the show. so all you have to do is show up. if you live on the sunshine coast and don"t want to travel down sign on time at the pub is 8am. hope to catch you there. If anyone is not sure where to go or just would like to cruise from the southside youre more than welcome to meet up with us between 6.00am and 6.30am at the Truck Stop on the Gateway between Old Cleveland and Wyunnum Roads.

Thanks for the info. 😀 Hopefully we'll be there (if this car ever gets finished). We're at Burpengary and the last one we went on we took off from the BP at Burpengary (as well as a few other beetles and manxs). So we'll either do that or drive down to Boondall.
That's the best part of the day isn't it - trying to get there!!!

A number off us are cruising from the truck rest area on the gateway between old cleveland road and wynnum road. We are leaving there at about 6.30 to cruise up to boondal.........nice and slow just to annoy everyone.......lol. They begin sign in at 7.30.

7am at Boondall Ent Center. Cruise is ~8:30am, but be there before then to give the organisers time to get everything in order and give a run down on the cruise rules :thumb

I'll be there , but not in my vehicle of choice. I'm about a month of finishing the bus and one-off kombi trailer. Better to go in shitbox triton than to miss out all together. I was going to set up on the nearest overpass with a video camera to film convoy rolling in.

Come on down Jen. Nambour is ~15min. North of the pub.
Pub is on the main highway, hard to miss. Aussie world theme park is there also.

Judy would love to hear when you guys arrive... dicky beach is a nice area... ALTHOUGH it would b awesome to go for a short cruise to mooloolaba n park the cars there n go for surf... usually good there, or dependin on how stuffed everyone is... dickey beach is good, just couple mins down the road.

If we get underway at 8:30 as planned we should be up there ~9:30am.
Judging is usually after lunch time and people slowly start to leave after that.

robnjo there is usually a swap meet set up at the pub starting from as soon as everyone arrives. Not huge but certainly worth a look.

Hi Guys,
Thought I would finally join in on the forum now that my avatar and signature have been set up (hopefully!). For those who may not know I am the president of the Gold Coast Dub Club and I would like to welcome any southerners to join us in the cruise up to Dubs by the Pub on Sunday, we are meeting at 6:30am at Helensvale McDonalds. I will be like a few others here and relying on my Hilux to get me there as my 67 beetle is getting an engine rebuild.
Anyway that's all for now, hope to meet some of you on Sunday.

We jumped in the convoy at Burpengary BP with our beetle - it was great seeing so many VW's (it's been 4 or 5 years since our last pub excursion in our Manx). We had to park in the carpark outside as we only had 1/2 hour to spend there - would have loved to have spent longer - next year for sure!!

A fantastic day, even though I had to roll start my car every time I wanted to go anywhere (bloody starter packed it in on Saturday:cussing - but I still came along). Was great to see all the old fav's along with some new vehicles. How mad was that trike with the fuel injection and twin turbos:o!? 0-100kmh in under 4 secs! Crazy!😀
Well done to everyone who won trohpies - some classes were difficult to pick.
Well done to the organisers too.

I won the hard luck award this year:cry
My engine let go just as I pulled into the Pub. It threw the conrod straight though the case of the engine and made a hell of a mess:cry The engine is totally stuffed and I will need to replace it with another one.
A huge thanks to 11Cab & Thook (Their Kombi won "The Dog" award) for towing me the 100klm trip home:kiss and everyone else who cruised back with us to make sure we made it home safely.
Now all I have to do is find myself some $$$$$ and a replacement engine.

My old friend Carmen, from Nambour, really loved the Ghia's...but is realistic and is seriously considering a beetle:thumb Her son was a member of the Bad Little Buggers a few years back I found out and he nearly went yesterday cos he still has contact with a couple of guys in the club...small world!!!!
It is so hard finding people when you don't know what they look like of they are wearing sunnies!!!! I caught up ever so briefly with Wes, Tazz, Y2K and Brad. Judy, Rob and Fish had started their run home by the time I got there🙁

Anyway had a great day looking at all the dubs. A big congratulations goes to Jeff from Sydney who one three trophies(i think) for his drop dead gorgeous 56 oval (COOL 56-- pink/purple paint with yellow and checker interior) Really nice guy to talk to.

When I saw Jeff's Cool 56 I was thinking I hadn't seen any other Flat 4's from Sydney??? When I ran into him later I found out he was hlidaying and working in the area and had only just found out about the Dubs at the Pub event, so he went along...going home with 3 trophies he said he woulkd make room for on the trip home😎
The was another beetle there recently painted in the same pink as Cool 56!!! Jeff was talking to the owners when I ran into him...all was very cool😎:thumb

slow....yeah right. Nothing slow about that car. i caught up to him a few times but everytime i got close he'd pull out and varoom.... he was off. Good on him though, if you've got it you might as well use it. You only live once
