Klub VW Klub Fest 2004 will be held at Cleveland this year instead of Toowoomba. It is being held at G.J.Walter park right behind the Grand View Hotel on Shore street east. Their is going to be 15 publicly judged categories plus 3 chosen buy Klub VW members. It will be a fun day with a DJ, Hot food, An ice cream van and an expresso van. There is a play ground at the park for the kids and the park is located right on the water with plenty of shady areas.

Gates open at 8.30 am on sunday the 2nd of may.

vwking ·

Baja Wes ·

I saw the paragraph about the show in the CAR section of the courier mail. nice work. 🙂

I think the "250" cars is a little optimistic though...

Baja Wes wrote:I think the "250" cars is a little optimistic though...
Ya just gotta be optimistic. You never know, we might just surprise ourselves.

So everyone grab their VW and get it out to Cleveland on Sunday.

:beer:beer:beer

Midlife crisis ·

We are trying to get to 250, I have spent the day dropping leaflets on cars in carparks and dropping in letterboxes where ever I see a VW parked. Even went to the door of one place and they will (hopefully) be there with loads of bettle bits and mags for a swap site.

Hey we can only try to make it the best we can.

traumin ·

Cant wait. Have to take 2 cars 1 for bits and 1 to show.

Baja Wes ·

I guess I am just basing my pessimism on the fact I have been to about 8 klub fest's, and most were lucky to get 50 cars. But hopefully the new location and date will bring a change in attendance numbers, and make it better than ever :thumb

Mrs M ·

Well you got to look on the brighter side of things now and then...

As for last year Klub Fest in Toowoomba, Alec had over 200 entrants for Trophies... so not sure which Klub Fest you went to last year...... It was my second one and i was rather impressed with the turn out... 😀

Moniek

Mrs M ·

If you are considering a Trade or Swap Site it might be good if you could come before or around 8.00am so that you can be set up ready to go before 8.30 when everyone else is coming in...

Unfortunately I was in Townsville and missed last years event. 🙁

Well, the weather forecast is looking good so far. It's good to see your all putting in a lot of effort to promote the event. 😉

Mrs M ·

Yes... lots of effort and i think it will be worth it all in the end......

Hope to see ya all at the show 😀

Moniek

Baja Wes ·

Anyone know when registration for the show finishes?

I've had a cold/flu the last few days and I am having trouble getting out of bed in the morning. Plus Cleveland is a fair hike from my house.

bugboymatt ·

Typical I'm working till 1330 or 1430 carn't remember !! So close but yet so far !!!!!!!
Bloody holiday makers !

Baja Wes ·

well my cold/flu thing combined with hayfever today to really drive me nuts. So I didn't feel like washing my car, and I should probably stay home and rest tomorrow. So take plenty of photo's for me guys. 🙂

hey wes you know that young ones episode where they shove a garbage bag over neil, to contain the excessive bogeys??? hehehehe:P

I am fluey myself, as is my offspring so i will be playing it by ear🙁 the worst part is , I had put some serious effort into 'unshining' my bug.. mud, grot, rotting foodscraps etc.. I had grand plans to give that kombi a bit o' competition in the dog arena.....:P one day festy shall sit proudly on that dog pedistal... ahh one day!!!!😀 that trophey will be hissss!).

Starbug ·

its going to be an interesting walk from the train station to the show... but checking out those shiny dubs is worth the hike!

see you all there!

11CAB ·

Shani ·

Well Done KlubVW Bayside on a great show! Had a really good time, the venue was perfect and plenty of shaded places to sit when we wanted to.
Lots of great cars to look at and the swapmeet was really good.
A huge pat on the back for Moniek and her team!

23 window

Mrs M ·

The weather was great and the temp was fantastic

Thank you to everyone that helped out over the last 3 months. A special thanks to Marc & Kathy and Michael, Carlie & Graham for all the help leading up to and including the day.

The gates opened to the public at 8.30am but we had cars coming in at about 7.00am including some swap/trade sites. I think we had about 14 stalls and lots of bargains.

We had a GREAT show considering it was the FIRST KLUB FEST IN BRISBANE .

Klub VW Brisbane / Bayside was slowly growing but we picked up a few new memebers.

Such fanatastic looking VW's displaed in the show and shine... it was sure impressive. We had a lot of new faces in the crowds, I think all the ads in the papers worked. We even had cars that did not want to enter in the show and shine but still wanted to park with everyone and be apart of the festivities. We closed the voting off at 11.30am and people still drove in and parked and wanted to vote and register.

Everything ran so smoothly and we never had a problem with parking, voting and registrations.

Congratulations to eveyone that won Lucky Door Prizes and Trophy Winners.

I had a photographer taking photoes of the day... as soon as the pics have been developed ill get them posted.

Moniek

😀😀

byronbus ·

I had a great day, awesome location guys, never want to go back to toowoomba, keep it by the bay.

Travelled to the show in Robs oval and back in Bobs 23 window, what a hoot...got some bargains too!!!

Well done moniek and her crew, did well, even the sausage sangers were a hoot and only $2... 😀

[Edited on 3-5-2004 by byronbus]

11CAB ·

Byron Bus, it was Moniek running the show....she did a great job.

lil dub ·

Congrats all round to moniek and the Klub Fest ppl!
It was a BEAUTIFUL day, down by the bay ----- perfect location and a really nice turn out ---- what a great spot, plenty of room plenty of shade (though i still managed to get sunburnt....)

So many lovely VWs --- and lots that i have never seen before ----- TYPE 3s!!!! yayayayayayaya!

And I won a lucky door prize WAHOO!!!!! I never win those things....and yesterday i did...so THANKS to the person who pulled out my ticket!

As always, it was awesome to catch up with my beloved vw friends - the angelic Judy, Kat, Bianca, James, Dallen, Bluebus (whoes name i always forget) Shani --- and all the very cute offspring you have (the future dubbers...!)

Had to leave early tho :-( to hoon it with Kat up to Willowbank for some racing.........BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY~ and quite worthy of a different post, with pics by the highway....where we "rested" for a bit and yes Kat I distinctly remember hearing you say "f##k this beetle I am gunna smash it to bits...." or words to that effect....heheheh.....well......i am not going to tell tales.....but i hope you got home ok!!!

thorun xx

lil dub ·

more photos anyone......?

and results maybe? i didn't hang around to see the trophy presentation (and despite paying my 2 bucks to vote.....i accidently got carried away drinking beer with kat and bianca and james and forgot to put in my votes!!!!!!! doh!) but would still really like to know who won what.....?

Yogie ·

What a great day.
Well done to Moniek and all the people involved. I just loved the 23 window but can't understand why it wasn't in the show & shine.

Lots of buggies and kombis and even the ghia section filled out. Looking forward to next year already.

Brett:kiss

Mrs M ·

Thank you for your kind words and ill pass them on at the meeting this friday. I tried to speak to everyone that either came through the gate or passed me and everything was great.

The feed back was all positive and everyone said that they are looking forward to next year coming down and spending they day beside the water. We had a lot of new faces, hopefully we will see more new faces at all the other events.

Alec has confirmed that Klub Fest will be happening again in by the Bay.........

Moniek

😀 hmmmmmmm what to use as Trophies 😎 😎

Mrs M ·

vwombat ·

Moniek and the Klub guys - you rock! Congrats on a job well done!

Sorry to the southerners who couldn't make it - it was a perfect day in my bay by the bay.

Brad ·

We have got some pics up under the trip report on the Manx Club Website

robnjo ·

I belive the 23 window was in the swapmeet cause its for sale...I might be wrong butI heard 40K mentioned...but could be wrong.
byron bus is this true?

Midlife crisis ·

Actually the owner came in and said that he did not want to enter in the Show and Shine no matter what we said :o(. He said that he wanted just a trade site.... did not want to be compaired and did not want to be put up against Show and Shine VW's

What a master piece of a car

P.S. this is Moniek not Marc

Will put up the list of winners on the net asap and also some pics.... my pc had a spac today i think it wanted a break.

ratty 63 ·

Well done everyone!

Congrats to the organisers and their assistants for holding another great VW event! Everything appeared to go smoothly (from my perspective anyway!) and it was a great way to relax and catch up with everyone.

Congrats also to all the trophy winners. I look forward to seeing all the photos of the day.....

Oh yeah - Sorry I took your 'Most Personality' trophy IICAB, but I feel that it was a close contest. You say that this trohpy is similar to the 'dog of the day' trophy? That would make 2 to me then.......:P

Looking forward to next year already....

R

vwombat ·

Hey Rat! I had to leave early. Which one was your ride? And are you
Dave's younger or older Brother???

I think it was ultimate cool NOT to enter the 23. Who needs a trophy when you've got THAT?

[Edited on 3-5-2004 by vwombat]

byronbus ·

I didnt know it was forsale, infact i'd be very suprised if it was, 40k wouldnt do it justice...

It wasnt in the show n shine because he's not really interested in the whole trophy thing, he was very happy for people to have a look and talk about it, just doesnt get into the show n shine and judging...

ratty 63 ·

vwombat,

This is a pic of my car (complete with the 'Most Personality' trophy that it won on Sunday).

...Daves older brother....

Saw your van at Klubfest, but didn't catch up with you... sorry - perhaps next time!

:sandrine
Bob is the man who owns "RUBY" the very beautiful split bus that was at the swap n sell there.
Lovely man who showed me some of the pics he had taken of RUBY when he was restoring her.
One thing i can tell you about this bus is he did all the work himself restoring her, spent many long hours on the many panels etc & did it the right way in restoration.
I believe that bus is for sale but I don't know at what price?
But I do know the person that buys RUBY is a very lucky
man/woman to own her. She is stunning.
Judy

lowrider ·

Moniek,
