Well, I'm almost feel ashamed to say that I've been messing around with VW's for nearly 20 years and they've never had names. Me and Wifey are now trying to come up with sex and name of our Splitty, and the soon to be on the road KG.
It seems to be that the Splitty is of a more masculine persuasion, reliable but a bit shabby around the edges.
As for the born-again KG, maybe Christian?

Well as for names my car it hasnt really been given a girlish name...its called Golfimble after some giant story i think? Anyway my friends call it the lunchbox, long story... maybe i should rename her too. But i have a thing against naming cars with common names it doesnt seem right to me.

I think my bay bus is a girl. She only goes when _she_ wants to, gets plastered and won't run after one (and every) drink, and whenever we book a garage/mech/whatever, she gets scared of the doctor and runs fine, playing well.
I'm waiting for a good name to happen. One day I'll hear something perfect, but until then, she's just my kombi. She's so grouss!

My old 76 Bug was a boy, Sebastian (as in Sebastian Coe, not that wimp out of brideshaed revisited) as he was relaly good at long distance runs..... even with a busted fuel pump spraying fuel around engine bay at Gympie that wasn't found out till Brisbane two days later.
As for my new one (56 oval) not sure yet, still in embryonic form (read - 6000 pieces on garage floor, shelves and benches) but think its a boy... not sure why, just know I never call girls some of the names that I have called it while trying to strip it down and rebuild it.

My bus was named Shrek coz of the colour. He's definitely a guy, but I've always had female cars so getting used to referring to 'him' is really tough. As someone said earlier it's always 'she's not running well...' etc etc
