On the last week end of the month it will be byron bay 1st anniversary bash and byronbug birthday also......people are invited to show some support to VW fellows....and as an example of this a cruise will be leaving the sunshine coast on saturday May 29th at 7.00 sharp from the Etamogah Pub ...meeting at 6.30 am so evryone will have time to get there and be awake.
should get there by 11.30/12noon ... meet up with Byron group at oz-e-go fuel station just off the highway at Byron turn off... and then heading off to casino for some more fun as there is a festival on that week end......details as follow
the casino beef week show and shine and parade is on saturday may 29
klub vw casino is entering vw,s anyone interested in joining in is more than welcome
the car show starts at 8am til 12-1pm followed by a parade which starts at 2.15pm
fun family day out with entertainment and carnival all day
if any members wish enter their vw in parade it must be registered with the beef week office no later than the

*For something different: BYRON MARKETS are on this SUNDAY morning starting at approx 8am-ish, for those who wish to check out these weird and wonderful markets before joining in the cruise from Lennox Lookout......

whens cruise time? Well I have racing this weekend, then next weekend its sevice weekend for all the wear and tear on the car from the racing eg new shift rod bushes, new rear end bushes, new engine mounts and a general check over. I will have to see whats doing each weekend

Ok heres whats happening....
Sat morning 29th we will have to leave early to get to Casino in time for the street float procession.
Apparantly this is a huge event & we have to lodge our papers in by the 25th or we can't be in the parade, so hop to it & send them back if you want to go & be in it ppl.
After that, to anyone who wants to come there with us on that day you are invited to a BBQ that night back at my place.
(We can always stop on the way home & pick up some food meat etc.)
The next day Sun 30th the Byron Bay Markets are on so whoever wants to go to that can,
Then later we are celebrating Klub VW Byron Bay's first anniversary with a Big BBQ & photo shoot.
Meeting at the lookout at Lennox Head at 10.30am travelling to a nice spot for a group pic then on to a shady BBQ area
to chill & relax & celebrate with you all.
So to anyone who want to enjoy a beautiful Byron weekend & admire some awesome VW's....& spend their time with some wonderful friends like I have off & on here.....you are welcome to join us all. Any forum members who want to come along too, you are welcome.....
Hope I see you all there....
I might even ring our local newspaper & ask them to do another story & pic of us too......

then a servo near the north-side of brissie
then a servo near the south-side of brissie
and finally a servo near the gold coast....

i can't think of anything specific because i am a bit of a moron --- plus i don't know what route you are taking....which way are you travelling......?
could i sugest northlakes servo or one near boondall for north brisbanites.....

Well i could just make meeting points, but i didn't want to just DECLARE this if it wasn't goin to suit the majority... so wat if i suggest stops and unless someone has a difficulty we'll stay with them...
SO... Over the next couple of days i'll look at a refidex n fuel stations and the route we'll take which i think str8 down the high way should b good....
BUT PLEASE if something is a problem or you'll like to know if a stop could b changed, DONT HESITATE to U2U me or Sleeper and ASK! it doesn't hurt to ask... but if you dont ask you will NEVER know and im SURE it will BLASTING GREAT TIME on this weekend! tho most drives as VW lovers are great neway! 😉 pppuurrrfect company!

Uuummm, meeting point between Yatala & Byron...
How about just past the NSW/ Qld border ....meet just before the new Highway starts (near the Murwillumbah turnoff).
You can park safely around there on the side of the road/Pacific Highway.
Make sure you fill up guys before then, cos after the border there are no petrol servo's on that new highway til you get to near the Mullumbimby turnoff.

I work for Ken Guy Real Estate... but I have been at the Maroocydore Office training their new receptionist for the last 3 weeks so i've seen you turn at the lights on the corner and check out Shrek each time! 8.45am - arrive at SPRINGWOOD ***SECOND PICK UP***
(Ampol Station near IKEA complex)
9.00am - leave Springwood at the latest!
10-10.15am - COOLANGATTA ***THIRD PICK UP***
Hoping to be in Byron by 12noon - above times are fairly generous and ESTIMATES ONLY!
If you are going to be at one of those ***PICK UP*** spots please U2U either Sleeper or myself with WHERE you'll be meeting us and a mobile contact number. We figure it will be easier to sms ppl when we're 30mins away from the spot just in case nething happens. PLUS... then we know who we're waiting for or even IF we're waiting for anyone, bcos its no use waiting somewhere for 10-15mins if no one is goin to meet us there.
We're not saying you HAVE to go by this but it would help us out and im sure we all know our widdle VWs can b unpredictable at the best of times! 😀

I bought a set of walkie/talkie things last night as well as a new outfit... retail therapy is SOOOO GREAT! but yes we will be able to communicate from the start of the line to the end of the line... they're 40 channel ones... so if anyone else has a set we can all tune in together... they were a good price compared to a lot of other ones i've been looking at which were approx $100.00... for this set of two Uniden ones from Big W they're $75.00...................... i know u get wat you pay for but they have a warranty on them and i figure not MUCH can go wrong with them! :p Thats wat i thought bout VWs too before i got into it! 😉

I'm thinking since no one has U2Ud or said nething about meeting us at any of the points, bar Thorun who unfort can't make it now 🙁 We will only do the first n last pick up points, Caboulture and Coolangatta(somewhere @ a fuel station)... as we will b watching our time carefully!
If this isn't so and someone DOES want to meet us somewhere then PLEASE make sure you get incontact with me or Sleeper somehow!
We dont wish to leave ANYONE behind, but theres no use in stopping somewhere if no one is goin to turn up, if that makes sense! If there are any objections also PLEASE let me know! 😀

well......it is not a public holiday friday for me...:cry
i thought i wasn't gonna make it on saturday either ...after having some troubles with the car......fixed the fan and put new regukator (thanks blue bus) but then found out that my oil cooler was leaking ....so had to pull it all apart again.....found a loose nut so i got it tighter...put it all back ...and still leaking....to find that my gasket was dead......anyhow.....thanks to blue bus again to get me some rubbers ....and after a busy day at work ....i started to work on the car...pulled out the oil cooler ....again....replaced gasket ....put it all back together.....and yahoo......looks like it's all working now.....
thank god......so the car is getting washed and polished tomorrow....so she'll be all pretty for the cruise........3 more sleeps to go...mmmm....maybe 2 and half the way it's going......

Yes THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for opening your home to us Judy, it was such a lovely night catching up with everyone from Byron.
I'd like to thank Daniel (Sleeper) for helping with the cruise and must thank everyone for turning up, Joel, Rick & Stef and it was a pity to hear that Kombi M@d and Ross from Noosa couldn't make it, but there'll be another time for SURE!
It was a great weekend, and I have to say I enjoyed it IMMENSLEY, the Beef festival was SOMETHING ELSE!
Was good to hang out with all the Byron crew over the weekend and especially awesome meeting 'SIK' (David - i think his name is, sowwy if i got that wrong)

I would just like to say we had such a relaxing weekend at Byron. Did not wana come home [work gets in the way so much BUGGER].
Thanks Judy fo having us over for BBQ had a fun night and it was great catching up with every one else.
Good to see all the vw's together for the photo shoot just wish our kombi [Daisy]was there too.

Thanks Judy, for a great weekend.
I'll get my p ictures sorted ASAP and get them posted up here, shame I didn't have time to get to the photo shoot on Sunday but still got some of everyone (and the Beef Festival Parade).
I had a fantastic time and I'm really glad that Shrek made it there and back without a cough or a sniff.
