I ran one on a 2180 with 44 idfs, no worries. Never had an issue with it. Changed it to a 009 - couldnt feel any difference, car ran no better or worse.
To summarise, they are different, but I dont know how, I timed them at 3000 rpm to 32 BTDC, didnt take any other notice.

The 009/010 is best used for stock rod ratio engines, where you do not want to do all this customer ignition curve work. Let me first say that I'm not a fan of the 050. The 050 has a different advance curve, and it's more suited for short rod engines (like the type 4), or engines with a bigger crank and shorter rod (78 stroke with Porsche length rods, etc).

i have used an 050 on my 1641 and 1916, over the 009, due to the recommendation of 2 vw mechanics and it has been great. i would definately recommend it

Ok I have sold the 050 to steve ,and my apoliges to craig for not looking at the numbers before I put them in the air bag :beer

Haven't got it yet. Craig's sending / bringing it up with some other stuff when he's up this way again, so I don't know yet.
