Hey does anyone know of any short term beginners welding courses in sydney? Preferably one that is on at night or something.
I had a look at tafe plus but they only have decorative welding and more specific courses.
Just wanted to learn welding/fabrication.
thanks

what sort of welding elect, tig mig gas ? do you have a welder?

Nope - was planning to get one in conjunction with doing a course. There is a automotive restoration course at Tafe, anyone ever done that?

yer, I'm 'doing' a bucket course at Ultimo tafe in oxy, mig, tig and stick welding, but am currently not physically there. my tafe transport has been off the road for five months, but hope to be going back this semester. mig would be handy, but I'm deeply involved in oxy at the moment for some reason. nice bunch down at ultimo, too 😀

thanks.
how much is it costing and how long/ how often is the course?
Is it a good course?

one to four nights per week, depending on how crazy you are about different types of welding. I think it's about $125 per half year, and definately value for money. you just bring your own safety equipment, they let you abuse thousands of dollars of equipment and resources while there. you could spend the next 5 years there, depending on your schedule and how many types of welding you want to learn, and what level of proficiency you wish to attain. one year should see you reasonably well versed in one type of welding theory and practise, then it's up to you to hone your newly found skills. or just blow holes in stuff and melt things into unrecognisable potato shapes. 😀 still contemplating going back this semester if I can find the time and dedication.
