50kb seagull.

goto settimngs screen & use 500 by 500 at ~70% quality. should be right. wave your cursor over preview image to see size.

I am having trouble too. I use photoshop, the original photo size is 11.1m pixel dimensions 2272 x 1704. When I resize to 500 pixels x 500 in this case it ended up being 500 x375 the photos size ends up being 549K and the photo size only 2.7 inches. My question is how to resize without ending up with a tiny picture. Pam

you've fooked it for sure.

ok, open easy thumbnails.

browse and find the picture you want. select it.

click on the orginal tab, to see what the original picture looks like. It will give you the original picture information at the top, something like (1600x1200 pixels ; 5,030,404bytes)

Now click on the thumbnail tab, it will show you the thumbnail, and will give you info about it. set the other left hand group of tabs to "setting".

set resize to shrink to fit.

set max width and height to around 600 and 600.

set the prefix/suffix to something like s_ and new name: to add prefix.

Then move the jpeg quality slider left and right. As you do this you will notice the quality of the jpeg picture changing in the thumbnail preview window. You will also notice the information at the top changing. It will be something like (600 x 470; 43,254bytes). What you want to do is reduce the size and quality of the image until the file size is less than 50,000bytes.

when you are done click make. A new image will be saved in the same folder as the old one, with the same name but with a s_ suffix in front of it.

You can trade off size for quality, or quality for size, until you get a thumbnail your happy with, with a size less than 50,000kb.

The person with paint shop pro or whatever is probably only changing the size in pixels, but not changing the quality, so still getting a big file.

when u save as a jpg in photoshop it asks you what quality to save it as....number "2" quality is fine for a net pic and gives u a pretty small file.

I do it another way. I worked it out myself so it must be idiot proof.
I have windows xp.
I right click on the pic and there ia a minimise picture function.
I do that; then if the pic is still a we bit big I open it with ms paint, cut out the major part of it and paste it into a new pic.
that always works.
If there is aan easier way I am open for suggestions.
I will have a bash/click at the above methods too..

Baja Wes ·

the advantage easy thumbnails has over the other methods is you can get a entire folder full of pics, set the size to about 500x500, compression to 60%, then hit the make all button, and it will make a thumbnail of every single imaging in that folder in one go. ie, it does batch thumbnailing very easily.

Tried everthing tonight to get photos up this what I did

Right click on photo
click on edit icon(second from right)
click on resize
make it 400 x 300 or smaller

click file
click properties
change resolution to 25
and then you must save changes
done
Then my biggest mistake was to try and post in edit NO GO
Use reply
I hope this helps it took me 2 hour

Cheers

another easy way with win xp is to set the folder to be viewed as a film strip and select the photo u want to resize. then resize the folder window which will then in turn make the preveiw picture smaller. then print the screen and paste it into mspaint and crop the rest out so u just have the picture and then save as a jpg.😎
