After a few years out of the game, at least 10.
And also back in England.
I have decided to get back into customizing Beetles.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a good QLD/Bris based aircooled VW club, I would be most grateful.
Donations of old crappy Beetle floorpan/body gladly accepted! :thumb
Cheers

So Gibbo,
Tell us about what you were doing back IN the game hehee
I'm a Victorian myself so i can't point out any QLD/Bris clubs, but there are plenty of people here on the forum that can help you.
Good luck....

What I am doign back in the game?
Or what I was doing back in the day?
lol
Well i'll give ya both......
I have always had an eye for a well turned out V-dub, any type will do. I mis-spent my yoof driving and raving in a 1971 1300 Super Bug, which was slightly modded and boasted a nice chromed and polished 1641. Me and the old man also built a fantastic purple metal-flake beach-buggy, never finished it though 🙁.
I moved into other things, like working, and ended up selling the car after I blew the 3rd engine on it....
Till this day my bug-lust has been dormant, till a few months ago, when I started watching downloaded episodes of monster garage and pimp my ride, then the lust returned with a Vengence.
So.... here I am.....

So what happened to this work in progress? (and how did you blow 3 engines??)
I'm only a young-un at this game. I'm (only) 18 and on a GAP year in England, so my 2 dubs are left at home with my parents...It's a good thing my dad takes care of them for me 😉
So what/how are you hoping to get back into the V-Dub scene?

What happend to it...
well I arrived back from a holiday in Spain with the lads to see it being taken away on a xxxxx!!
My old man had gotten sick of it just sitting there.
3 engines, well, I was always giving it some, and oh forgetting to put oil in the damn things!! LOL
Im hoping to get a solid floor/body arrangement, early type 1, slopping headlights, drop nose, strip it bear, rebuild from the ground up. I've always been a sucker for the cal-look so it will become something along those lines, I have already started some plans.
Anyone want to throw an old project my way?

if you are into beach buggies I suggest the Manx Club you don't have to own one to be in it
penguin ·
I'm not there yet but will be soon mate.
I think there are a few clubs about depending on your mentality (or lack of). I know of the VW drivers one and the Bad Little Buggers at least, with the manx one for that side of the tree.
Just about to head back to QLD for the first time to call it home in almost 18 years, so if you want when i get up head out to Ipswich for a beer or five.
Cheers
