I just bought one after doing a little research and asking around(thanks Helbus).
Try and get one thats 3 piston instead of 1 as it fills alot quicker. For spray painting you need 17cfm+ and tank size over 40ltr.
The one I just bought was triple piston and 80ltr tank and cost me $500 from second hand dealer...worth well over $1800 new!
PS: I also needed it to use a dual action sander, die/cut off grinder, nibbler etc for autobody work and this is perfect!(well...you can always do with bigger and faster but not for the $$$)
Hope this helps

I have a 50litre 3Hp compressor, 14cfm,
If your doing a bonnet its fine but a full car it refills every min of constent spraying, takes about 30seconds to stop,
80litre sounds good good 😀

hey two guns my loving partner found this site for me and it is cheap, the big bertha mentioned above is 621 bucks thay also appear to have good quality guns at the right price too http://secure.global.net.au/otshops/transquip/html/index.html?url=secure.global.net.au/otcgi-bin/otsb.obn?P:0:1+G+transquip+file2+air_tools_wt_compressors:1:10. After much searching i think i am going to go the big bertha as i am a first time painter and don't really want to have to worry about pressure dropping out in the middle of a job and the eighty litre tank should enable me to just concentrate on the painting hope this helps.
um can you let me know what product satin was used on your splitty and if it was cut back at all, i am trying to figure out what the best process is to get a semi shiny satin finish as on the bugs above cheers david
