Learn to Weld?

seems like I've got the VW habit, so I really do need to learn to weld, or get a much better paying job!

learning to weld is more feasible I think, so if anyone knows of any short courses in the Sydney area can they post some info, all the TAFE ones seems to be over 2 years

cheers

You just aren't asking the right questions of TAFE. TAFE run ACE courses or "Adult Community Education", this is what you should be enquiring about. They run Tig, Mig, Oxy and Arc courses under the ACE banner and the cost about $130 and are usually just two Saturdays. They include all equipment etc.

that's what I want - welding for old people

If welding on your VW is what your learnig for, then maybe you should consider a coarse in panel beating.

Goodluck.

ive been doing my welding course 4 six months now just one night a week, u can take it as far as u want, never picked up a welder before and now im confident enough in mig, stick, and soon oxy to do what i want worth the money and whats one night a week. be warned though gets addictive😉 deon

Im going to be starting a "vehicle restoration course" in about 3 weeks. They teach you how to weld, fabricate and paint/finish metal body panels and stuff.

its at St George Tafeplus. $195 for 9 weeks, 6-9pm on monday nights every week.

Call 95986375 for st george tafe, its filling quickly

thanks for the info everyone

North Sydney Tafe are also running a Vehicle Restoration and Panel Beating course - 18 weeks, 4 hours a week - but it's $590!

commuting to Kogarah seems to be the go!

Hi Mike

do you have any specific info on these ACE courses - I emailed 6 of them and they all said they don't do welding courses, I don't mind a bit of a drive to get to a course
